They work
During a Sportive I was given one of these gels and it was really tasty, took about 5 minutes to kick in but when it did you knew. I thought these were that good I bought a few boxes of them. Opening them can be tough especially riding on a very windy day as they do not seem to tear that easily.

I haven’t used gels before, so nothing to compare to. I used them for a long cycle I did for charity. I found them helpful and palatable. Easy to store and consume while riding.
