Sibilla Della Zingara: The Perpetuation of a Tradition

Disappointing
There are so few cards in English on the Sibilla della Zingara-- the well-known (and excellent) book by M. Jaqueline Murray, and a few I can never obtain copies of that are probably out of print. So I was thrilled to see this book available. However it turns out to be quite disappointing. The card meanings add very little if anything to those in Murray's book, and there are NO spreads and NO instructions on how to read the cards. What I primarily hoped for was more spreads to add to the ones I know, not just more lists of card meanings. The subtitle, "The Perpetuation of a Tradition," also leads one to believe there will be some discussion on the tradition of these cards, but there is almost nothing on that except to say how little is known about them. I'm not sure why the author felt this was a useful addition to the scant information on the 52-card Gypsy deck. (Not to be confused with another kind of Gypsy cards that has only 32 cards).

Good, but not great
One of three books on the Gypsy Oracle that I bought around the same time. One of the 52 cards (Priest) was left out of the book! Hopefully that oversight will be addressed in the second edition of the book.On the positive side, she provides a quote related to the card. (I'm a sucker for quotes.) She also provides keywords, a discussion of the imagery on the card and what those images mean, interpretations for love and for work/finances, and reversed meanings. She doesn't provide any spreads or associations with other systems.
