Mindful Knitting: 35 creative and calming patterns to reduce stress and soothe the mind

Fun, fun, fun
I buy a lot of knitting books/patterns - but to me this is the best one published in recent years / decades. Well it must be - because I read it and went out to order yarn [unseen!] for 3 projects. Yes, 3.The book is fun because the yarn is so colourful, the techniques so familiar [feather & fan] - they’ve just been reinterpreted for modern knitting. One thing I’ve noticed is that the author is truly gifted when it comes to squeezing every last drop of colour out of yarn - simply by balancing it with varying amounts of white. It really is a masterclass in that aspect. It got me using yarn I really enjoy (WYS pure or Signature 4 ply) - it would have never considered before, as I’m unfamiliar with the brand - and have never heard of Falkland Island wool etc. So the book broadened my horizons. I mainly bought the book because it was so cheerful and modern - and because it has a large spectrum of projects - not just clothes. I shall get around to them sometime, I’m sure. For now I’m quenching my colour thirst … get yourself a good tapestry needle, as there’s quite a few ends to sew in. I would recommend Cocoknits bent tapestry needles, 4 in a pack, 2 sizes, big eyes, very smooth & magnetic. I think even if you tried to be depressed, you’d find it impossible looking at or wearing these juicy, bright colours [I’m not flippant; I’m still on anti-depressants but have been well for ~ 5 years now]. Anyway, I would like to thank the author for compiling such a fun, effortlessly skilled, modern and varied book. It would be the one I’d take to the desert island with me [plus the yarn, haha].

An excellent book
Very pleased with this book, I could relate to the authors story and her patterns are beautiful. Ive started the Points of interest shawl and have found the simple pattern and the beautiful soft sock yarn lovely to work with. I chose this pattern for the bright colours which are beautiful to work with and the rhythm of the knitting really does help with anxiety. Highly recommend.

Nice patterns
I haven't knitted anything from this yet, but the patterns are very appealing. Socks, wall hanging, bunting, shawl, blanket, basket, hat, scarf - and on and on and on - all in keeping with the theme of reducing stress and soothing the mind. So much prettiness to choose from.
