Incredible for the price!
I was VERY skeptical with the cheaper katanas on Amazon. But after purchasing this I gotta say that this one changed my mind. Other katanas at this price point are probably garbage but not this one! The fact that they've taken the time to do amazing packaging to protect they're product shows me that they stand behind they're katana. Are there better katanas on Amazon, absolutely. But you'll pay the extra $ for sure. Whether this is handmade or not, this is an amazing sword for the price. Pros: True Full Tang, nice and tight in the scabbard, not loose rattling sound when sheathed, very sharp out of the box, blood groove on the spine, perfectly straight(mine anyways). Cons: "Printed" dragon on the scabbard(not a big deal), a little bit to much "bling" IMO with the gold color(I usually don't like alot of gold on my swords), but that's personal preference. Also needs to be oiled often if it's going to be "used", which is typical with 1060 steel. Great "basic imo" katana that stands apart from other "cheap" ones on Amazon.

Great for the price and Very sharp! Good craftsmanship.
Great for the price. I've always wanted a Katana but have been skeptical in spending 1,000+ on one. It comes extremely sharp I've never owned a blade where the whole blade from the thickest part comes into the sharp edge of the blade instead of it having a sharp edge only towards the end of the edge. Even my tantos have the edge shaped only towards the end of the edge. My only concern would be how to sharpen it without ruining or changing the edge. It is very nice and sharp but it does not have a hamon what so ever. But it is the real deal as far as a sword goes. The craftsmanship is nice and the scabbard is nice and looks clean but I do wish it came without the dragon sticker. That's just personal taste in appearance though. I think it looks beautiful to show off mounted at home as a decorative piece that also has full capability to use for defense. It'll definitely ruin somebody's day but I would feel bad using it to cut brush and such I'd rather abuse my cold steel blades.

First time sword buyer
This came in a typical amazon box. Inside the box was a styrofoam box containing the sword. The sword is in its sheath and the whole thing is wrapped in plastic. The handle is wrapped in yet another layer of plastic. There is s small cardboard square with dome info about siwode. There is also a small sand packet for the sheath. When I first pulled the sword from the sheath the blade is wrapped in oiled plastic. It looks very nice. It has an appropriate heft as a sword of this size should but is not heavy. I have not taken it apart yet. I tested it on a large watermelon. It cut it cleanly in half with little effort. I even tried a left hand swing ( I’m right handed) and it still was like cutting butter with a hot knife. I also tried it on a small tree, about the diameter of the tsuba. It cut cleanly through. This sword is not a toy. It is a real sword, it can do some real damage. For $135 after shipping, it is worth every penny.

Amazing and please read lol
Two of the pictures I provided are cool pics I took and edited for my Instagram. (briangonxx) It’s a really nice and pretty katana. I only used it for pictures and decor, I put it on my dresser With a separate katana stand. If I’m being honest it’s my first katana purchase so I’m not really sure if it’s good or bad but it is VERY sharp and sturdy. The only thing I would say I didn’t like was on the black cover thing, the way I decided to display it, the dragon is upside down but that doesn’t really bother me, I only noticed because I was looking very closely haha. One last thing, the dragon was printed on not painted on, I don’t really care about it but it did bother me that you could see the outer line and how it was printed. Other than the dragon print I am satisfied with my birthday gift (katana obviously haah)

Priced right for the quality
Is what I expected at this price. The blade and handle wrap are the best parts. Everything else looks cheap. Fitting of the parts is good. For safety , would use it for practice or slicing pool noodles and soft objects. Risking use on tough objects would not be advised. A failure could occur and cause serious injury. You get what you pay for. This katana is no exception to that rule. Be safe!! THIS IS A FOLLOW UP REVIEW ; After testing the blade a full disassembly and blade repair was necessary. I bypassed the soft targets and went to a blade edge durability test. The test was done at 1/4 speed and power on a dead 3" diameter pine tree limb. The blade did chip and sustained a heavy roll near the tip after appr. 10 strikes. It did cut well. I have no doubt it would cut thru soft objects with ease. Some slipping of the handle rap was noticed and end cap was slightly loose. After disassembly and cleaning the blade no scratches were noticed and the blade was not bent. I repaired the blade edge and polished the blade. After reassembly ,all parts were tight. I pushed the handle wrap back toward the guard which was very minimal. The end cap is now tight and wrap as well. One thing of note is that the bamboo dowels are installed on opposing angles which is a nice feature. I wouldn't suggest disassembling this katana without the proper tools and technique. The handle is very tight and needs to be remove carefully. NOW FOR A MORE REALISTIC REVIEW. The blade is hardened(TESTED). Blade steel 1060 (??) 1040 (PROBABLY). The ray skin is real(TESTED). It is a full tang (INSPECTED). Blade finish(EXCELLENT) . Parts fit(EXCELLENT). Sheath(GOOD). Hand guard(OK) , it is heavy and probably durable , just looks a little cheap. End cap((GOOD). Dragon sticker on sheath(LOOKS CHEAP). Sheath wrap for securing katana to Obi wrap (CHEAP), two colored pieces melted together at center and sheath eyelets are free floating, totally loose. CLOSING THOUGHTS; all the above is in line for a katana at this price. This is a nice display katana and meant for light duty use only. Siwode does offer many different models that will allow you to probably find one you can't live without. I really like the one I purchased. Be safe.
