The media could not be loaded. I first tried compressed cellulose sponges as part of a facial gift set. I absolutely was impressed with the texture: just enough to remove a clay mask or make up without being abrasive. When I saw these offered as a package of 50 at a great price, I quickly pressed the order button.These are EXTREMELY compressed. They are about the thickness of handmade paper (as would be expected of cellulose). But the moment they get wet, Boom! It’s an instant sponge.Not only are they great at home: they dry very quickly when washed out and can be used multiple times. I keep one in my shower along with face cleanser. Dried on a grid type rack, it’s not yucky or moldy or smelly after a couple of weeks of use (I was it off well with shower gel and rinse well before squeezing it and then leaving it to dry fully).For travel/camping - you can slip one in your bag and use it to freshen up almost anywhere then toss it. What a great thing to have after a long flight!If I had kids I’d keep a few in my bag to wash little hands and faces - lighter than carrying around wipes.At 20 cents a sponge they are very economical.

Would I get these again and would I recommend them:-I would not get them again with the intent of using them on the face. But they are nice on the body.-They are good on the body and feet, and I would get them again for use on areas other than the face.-I would not recommend them for daily or regular facial use, due to the texture being too rough for the face. I would recommend them for use on the body and feet.Why:-Even though they do soften in water, they are still very roughly textured and too harsh and painful for use on the face on a daily basis.-They would work as an occasional exfoliating treatment.Pros:-Excellent value-You get a lot of the sponges in a pack (50).-They are compressed so they store well.-They expand well and quickly (it's kind of neat to see it) in water.-Well made, high quality.-They don't fall apart when wet or leave lint or residue on your skin.-They have no dye in them.-They don’t have any odor wet or dry.-The thickness is just right, not too thick or thin.-The sponge texture is nice and squishy, soft and they squeeze out water well and also hold water well.-They dry out well after use (if left in the air in a dry area vs a wet area like a shower) due to not being overly thick.-Very exfoliating to the skin, which can be a pro or a con depending on how you want to use them.-The exfoliating texture of the sponge is fine like a fine sand paper, emory, nail file board like feel. It's not as rough as a loofah or buff puff. However it feels pretty harsh on the skin even with gentle use.-After it left my face painful with brief, gentle use I tried it on my arms and body. It was a little painful compared to say a Sallux cloth (love and recommend those) but less painful than a dry brush (hate those). But the exfoliation was impressive. I use a Sallux cloth every shower, and this even added to it. It's like using a fine nail file to finish when you've already used a coarser one, if that makes sense on how it is on the skin.Cons:- The texture on these is not remotely smooth or soft, it's very rough and abrasive on the face.-Even gentle use is very exfoliating on the face. That's not a bad thing. But if you wanted a soft sponge for a face wash vs exfoliation, this is not soft or gentle on the skin for a daily face wash.-Not likely to be what you'd want to wash your face with daily due to the exfoliation being so strong and rough.Final Thoughts:-Just know these are not soft sponges that are smooth and gentle on the face. They are very exfoliating.-The exfoliation may be too much on the face, but is good on the body. It can be painful though like sandpaper or a nail file.-If you understand what you're getting and how you want to use them, they're well made and a great value for 50 of them.

They work so well that I am glad I found these to use at home. The price is very reasonable at about 0.24 cents each. They come in a tiny package but expand when exposed to water. They gently exfoliate and wash away every trace of makeup and last about 2 weeks when rinsed thoroughly. These are perfect for travel since they are so compact. These measure 2.75 inches in diameter.
