Works great! Great value for backup Subaru keys
I actually ordered this key blank in March of 2018, but I was finally able to actually use it now in May of 2023. Back in 2018 when my '17 WRX was a relatively new car, every locksmith I called would immediately respond with "Nope!" as soon as I gave them the Make Model and Year. So the fob sat in a drawer for 5 years and I, fortunately, managed to avoid losing my only car key for that whole time. Fast forward to today, now that the car is old news, and it was a cakewalk getting this working. Found the fob again, checked the battery (it was good!) and called my local Batteries Plus about cutting and programing. For $85 out the door, they got the key cut and working just like it was OEM. $135 for a spare key vs dealership cost makes this a slam-dunk choice. Really pleased that I was able to get this done after such a long time, hence the review. One piece of advice, if you plan on taking the Batteries Plus route make sure you call around if there are multiple in your area. One location quoted me almost twice as much as what I ended up paying.

Not programmable.
Purchased two of these and had them cut at a local locksmith, they will start the car, however, the fob portion does not work. The locksmith was unable to program them, so I made an appointment at Subaru who was also unable to program them. I cannot lock the car now because I can't get back into it without setting the alarm off. I'm now out the money into the keys, and twice into programming the keys to have them not work. Additionally, the phone number to call with problems is not a valid number.

Works great for a 2015 forester
Works great for my 2015 forester, needed to have it professionally programed by a local company for $75 but still a lot cheaper than getting a spare from the dealership, even though they only gave me one key when I bought it 😒

Components weren’t compatible
While it’s a good key for an extra, the codes couldn’t be whatever. So it wasn’t compatible with the car as a fog beep. It’s only a key open and shut.

Could not be programmed
Followed instructions in ordering proper key. Locksmith got key and worked over an hour on it before finally telling me it could not be programmed. Something about a small number which should be on the back of the key verifying authenticity /programing or the like. Key was cut works in ignition but not programmed. I’m out 130 bucks and still have to go buy a new key. Useless. Very disappointed.

The right key/fob at a reasonable price! Great service.
I wanted to get an extra set of keys for our Subaru's. Most chip-key duplication services can't make Subaru keys. I checked out several firms. Many thought they could, but could not. Some said they could if I could get the blanks, and they could not either. Some had very high charges, greater than $150. The answer: KeylessOption and Batteries Plus! KeylessOption helped me get the exact correct key/fob for my Subaru's. This was not a trivial task. Many of the lookup/cross reference services did not identify the correct keys for my cars. The trick is to use the FCC ID number. With it KeylessOption was able to get me what I needed. Batteries Plus has a new system that can duplicate Subaru keys. They charged me $40 to cut and program a key. Their prices for keys/fob's are pretty high. KeylessOption cab get you the right key and at a good price. In the end I was able to get working keys for my cars at a total price of $80 each, which is about 1/2 of my other options. A big thank you and my highest compliments to KeylessOption. They helped make this project a success. Without them this project would have failed.

Programming didn't work on door buttons
This key fob looks like my original except for it lacking the Subaru Logo and print. The FCC ID # and Chip G match also. I took the key to the local Batteries & Bulbs for cutting and programming. Unfortunately the buttons do not work and the alarm goes off when manually opening the door until the key is inserted in the ignition. So disappointed.

Waste of time, effort and money
They put a stupid picture of the FCC code ID, which means nothing to the average buyer and so you buy keys you can’t use even though the description and what you’re looking for is one in the same what a complete shame and waste of money in addition to that it causes you issues with the people that will program the keys for you because then they can’t programming it because the FCC codes are not one in the same and now you’re out not just the money but the agitation of having to go to the programmer and paying them a fee to program something that they cannot program. Complete garbage just do yourself a favor and buy the key directly from the people that you’re having program and cut the key.
