I've learned that this salt is hand-mined from the largest salt mine in Pakistan and provides world purest rock pink salt judged the world's # 1 tasting salt. It is 100% natural, Kosher, Halal, Non-GMO, and NFC Vegan. In ancient Rome, salt was used as a form of payment and served as currency in various regions. Since regular table salt contain high amount of sodium chloride, processed with many chemicals that are not good for human health I stopped using it. Pink salt is rich in minerals like potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, etc. It is free from additives, preservatives, and any other anti-caking agents. It is also known that salt never expires and it has sooo many other uses beside seasoning your dishes and pickling veggies. This order came in two pretty nice, kind of rustic and very strong sacks with zippers, each one of 5 lb. The price was great, 10 lb. of great and clean salt for only $ $17.97. Even if the price goes up some, still this is a great buy, versus the little individual plastic bags for a few dollars each. Definitely I will buy more to have a back up for the years to come.

This os perhaps the best Himalayan salt in the market. A difference from sea salt, Himalayan salt contains 87+ trace minerals besides sodium. The taste is delicious. Highly recommended.

quite salty and pretty to look at

I have bought Himalayan Pink Salt in most of its forms: the throwaway grinders, the one pound clear plastic packages, and now this eight pound sack. I love the salt, and for every case where I intend to flavor food directly (i.e. not using brine or using salt as a heat transfer agent, or with ice in making ice cream) this is what I use. The salt itself is pretty much the same, and one gets a huge discount for buying it in large quantities. But I will not buy this size container again. One does assume, when one buys in large quantities, that a normal amount of care will suffice in keeping the container intact. My experience was different. I happened to lightly bump up against a dull metal protrusion on a metal shelf as I was storing this, and it punctured the bag convincingly. It was nothing that a good piece of duct tape could not have taken care of; but it did tempt me to wonder how close I had come to wasting the entire cost of this salt because the container seems to be barely more robust than a brown paper shopping bag. I'm going to stick with the one or two pound screw-top plastic containers for Himalayan Pink salt.

Bought this to give to my horses! I put a couple cups out in a bucket and they ate a bunch right away and tapered down to a slow steady intake. The horses seem to like this more than the blocks of the same Himalayan salt. It’s easier for them to get what they want and won’t make their tongue hurt.

Exactly as described. I use it for making salt scrubs and this works well. I find it doesn’t absorb the oils as well as the other brands I was using but this is still great and it is finely ground!
