Superior handling and float!
The quality of these tires is very good. They are supple enough to handle hard rock and smooth on the trail. They ride nicely as well on hard paved surfaces making them relatively versatile for a gravel tire. I'd buy again.

Not just great for the price.
Ordered the brown sidewall 650b x47 Aggregate tires. I love the way the brown looks, an interesting alternative to the normal or tan. I cannot comment on actual weight, as I forgot to weight them before mounting and did not want to start over. MOUNTING- these were mounted on Hunt 650B Adventure sport X wide wheels. They are hooked rims with a 25mm internal width. Contrary to many others, both tires mounted easily on the wheels by hand, no tools required. However, they did not want to inflate and seat into the bead, even with an air compressor, in the end I had to use the inner tube method to get them to seat on the bead. I added Orange Seal sealant, and pumped them to 30 psi. SIZE- On my wheels, again, 25mm internal width, they measured around 46.5 mm. They were still inflated the next morning. I ran them on hard pack single track and gravel, for about 27 miles after dropping pressure to 27psi rear, and 25psi front. Post ride, surprisingly they now measure just shy of 48mm! RIDE- Even with those pressures they felt pretty quick and very smooth on the pavement. They grip just fine on the single track and gravel. I think labeling them as pave and mixed tires is selling them a bit short. I may not even brother with the Udden next time. I will have no hesitation buying these again. They may be around half the price, but far more than half the tire. Well done American Classic! I will be a repeat customer!

Great tire, great price
Used this as a rear tire and a Wentworth up front for a 100M gravel race in Trinidad, Co - dry, dusty roads and some tarmac, except there had been some rain the night before and we found mud. The tires did much better on the dry stuff (and tarmac) than on mud. Don't get me wrong, they didn't clog up or slide about, but they turned a bit too draggy on mud, but I can't really fault them, as they were not specifically designed for mud. On hardpack they rolled perfectly well, didn't feel floaty or loose and gave me no issues, no tears, no punctures.Setup - they did need a burst of compressed air, but they sealed quickly and had no noticeable leaksMeasurements: true to size - 40mm (on a 25mm wide rim). The Wentworth came 1mm smaller, surprisingly.Durability: the Wentworth is not showing signs of wear after the 100M, the aggregate seems to be doing a bit worse - wear is more noticeable, and I calculate I'll run out of thread in about 800 to 1000M; however, for the price they are being sold at that is quite a good deal, specially as the carcass seems to be pretty durable and you could eventually use it for a couple more hundred miles as a semi-slick.Performance: some people complain they are not as supple as more expensive tires - honestly, I don't know how they can tell, and I've been riding for many, many years and gone through hundreds of tires. I'll just say they are a perfectly good set of tires for dry weather riding (and mildly moist too) and they won't let you down. If you're a pro or bitcoin rich, definitely spend 4x on other brand: you'll maybe save 50 to 100 grams and get a slight performance gain, but for 99% of us out there they're a great option - I'm trying the 32mm slicks next for my all road set of wheels.

Solid gravel tire but a pain to install.
Put these on both of my bikes now to replace the stock tires. Excellent grip off-road and good rolling resistance on pavement. Really tough tire too. Shrugs off thorns and other minor hazards. Was a huge pain to fit though. Ended up warming the tires with a heat gun to get them on. Needed plenty of soapy water for them to seat properly, even with as much as 55 PSI. Knocked off a star for the installation hassle and one of the tires being a bit uneven. Wobbles slightly even though the rim is true and the bead is set. Doesn't affect riding much so I left it alone.

Under size, hard to mount but otherwise excellent tire
PREFACEI was so bitter from my tribulations mounting these tires that I rode off wanting to write a terrible review. After just a few rides, their performance is almost enough to completely forgive that terrible battle (but I will never forget). Performance for the price earns 5 stars, however, subtracting a star for difficulty mounting and another for misstating the size.SUMMARY - Extremely difficult to mount and remove - 40C measures to < 37 mm on my Stan's Crest rims (21 mm i.d.)+ Smooth, quiet and comfortable on pavement with low rolling resistance+ Predictable cornering with excellent grip+ Off road grip is outstanding for such a narrow tire+ $35 tire that outperforms tires costing > $50+/- durability TBDMOUNTING AND INSTALLATIONDue to the tight stiff bead, mounting this tire on my Stan's Crest rims was extremely challenging. I'm used to a bit of struggle getting the second side of the bead over the rim, but this is the first time I ever had to use a bead jack to get the first side on the rim (along with a couple Pedros tire levers). I doubt could have installed these without my Koolstop bead jack (if you run tubeless tires, you should own this tool). Once both beads were inside the rim, they came together at the center blocking airflow from the valve, requiring me to pinch the tire above the valve separate them while inflating with a 100 psi blast from my Lezyne Pressure Over Drive Floor Pump. It seated on the first attempt and held air over night with no sealant installed. When I removed the valve core to install the sealant, the bead popped out, but seated securely with another high pressure blast. After installing the rear, found I needed to replace the rim tape and discovered removing this tire is nearly as difficult as mounting it (which has not gotten any easier). Basically, if you don't have experience and good tools for mounting tubeless tires, plan on paying a shop to install these. It's a good looking tire with subtle understated logos. It is NOT a 40 mm tire and only measured to 36.87 mm on my Stan's Crest rims which have a 21 mm internal diameter.RIDING IMPRESSIONSThese are replacing the Specialized Sawtooth 2Bliss 42 mm tires on my steel Salsa Vaya. These roll smoothly and silently on pavement and smoothly transition to corners providing excellent grip when really leaning in. It feels much more supple than the Sawtooths, and even at 50 psi takes an edge of rough roads. Tried some urban single track and was really surprised by the traction even over wet leaves and roots. Dropping the pressure to ~30 psi and off road grip gets really impressive for a narrow tire with minimal tread. Braking was smooth, quick and predictable and remarkable grip when climbing on dirt. They roll really fast on hardpack and Back on the pavement, they really felt like they were dragging at 30 psi, so pumped them up to ~40 and they felt great again. These feel a lot like the Schwalbe G-One all-arounds I used to run - a much more expensive tire.LONG TERMI plan to update this in future if there are any issues with punctures, construction or tread life. Also, haven't had an opportunity to test these in dry loose conditions or serious mud - sort of doubt they would excel in those conditions but these tires have surprised me in other aspects.
