Find Her Alive (Detective Karen Hart Book 7)

I really love D S Butler's stuff! Having suffered lately from trying to wade through some badly written rubbish, I found this book a welcome breath of fresh air! Danica's books crackle with inventive suspense and the stories have characters that frustrate and delight. The premise in this book is a skilful plaiting of several seemingly unrelated events that finally drop into place in ways that will surprise you, tease and provoke because justice is not always well served by the outcome of crimes committed. Here, it is ... read it and you'll see why.In this genre, D S Butler is right up there with the best I've read because it is solidly based on human weakness and frailty - and, thankfully, not dependent on cheap thrills from sadistic slashers, insane female abusers, or lunatics harbouring atomic bombs!!

This story has a number of cases running through it. However, the back story is concerning Karen and Rock's personal lives.Rick is trying to work full-time and take care of his Mum, who is dealing with dementia. Karen, while happy at finding she can have a life outside work, is torn by indecision and worry about harm coming to those she loves. Does she go for DI and have more desk work, or even thinks of leaving the job she loves after, previously, dealing with the death of her husband and daughter.I wasn't sure if the home life stories would intruded with the criminal stories, but the author managed to find a good balance. I am not a lover of characters back stories taking over from the police side so am pleased to say this worked out well.

I've really enjoyed this series from the first book and this book certainly didn't disappoint.Detective Karen Hart is as busy as usual, even her private life is happier now that she's met Mike. Not that she will forget her husband and daughter who both got killed.Karen gets a call from a member of her counselling group her friend Phoebe has disappeared. Great read can't wait for next book now. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A thoroughly enjoyable series with likeable characters and interesting storylines which keeps you turning the pages. I've also enjoyed following Karen's story and her team's. It felt like his was the last book in this series which I hope is not the case.

I felt that the story didn't quite end but perhaps we are being artfully led to the next stage in Karen's life. Will there be repercussions following her spilling the beans to Cindy

Another Excellent Story in the Detective Karen Hart series and every bit as good as those before it. All the usual good strong characters and some interesting villains. A well worked storyline with plenty of twists and turns.Looking forward to reading more.

A fabulous book as always with this author. A who done it til the end and even that had a twist. Strong story and strong characters. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series
