My demented looking dino
This was my first attempt. The instructions and videos were helpful but there is no teacher like experience. I learned the importance of counting. With what I learned I’m ready to tackle this again

Howard
I liked that the box came with everything needed and a little book with some instructions. However, this is my first crochet project ever, and the instructions were not always user friendly. I would recommend looking up YouTube videos (NOT the ones provided by the maker of this kit) to better explain the crochet techniques used to make the figure. The videos by the kit maker were flat out not helpful in the difficult bits (please avoid the nightmare of learning the magic ring through their videos, there are lots of other better explained videos on YouTube), but at points they are necessary as the written instructions just don't explain how to do certain parts (ex: literally no mention of how exactly to attach the body or tail). However, over all, i really enjoyed this kit and I now know how to crochet little toys.Attached are pictures of my little Howard. Not as cute as his cousin Howie pictured in the box, but Howard is a great listener with his accidental ears instead of arms.

NOT for beginners
The instructions are hard to follow. The videos online go too fast and are also hard to follow. The yarn is not the best yarn to work with. It tells you to make a ring, yet the instructions does not show you how to make a ring…. When I finally got the ring figured out, my yarn was too messy to work with. I do not recommend this to anyone. Look for a better beginners company!

Cute project but difficult to follow
This is my first crochet kit. I enjoyed the project and everything you need is included, but the photos in the booklet are impossible to follow. Even the linked videos were not helpful. I had to look up videos from other crochet teachers to figure out what to do. All in all, though, the project is cute and there is enough yarn to make a second dino.

Not a beginner kit, definitely not for kids.
This is really not a beginner crochet kit, and definitely not for kids as advertised. It comes with "instructions" but they only show a few stiches used in the creation of the dinosaur, and then heavily relies on a YouTube video for the rest. The problem is that the instructor in the YouTube video is a VERY fast, VERY experienced crocheter. For reference, the instructor already finished the body enough to add stuffing by 30 min, and done with the whole dinosaur in 1 hour, 18 min (with the exception of the eyes.... I'll get to that later).I already knew some (very) basic crochet stitches, but still wasn't able to keep up with the video even after reducing the playback speed to 0.25. I frequently had to pause the video to catch up, but by then I had lost track what I was doing, or missed some other detail. I started and unravelled my work several times, but never got past Row 4. By then my cumulative mistakes would become too much, and what I made looked NOTHING like what the instructor made. The video also included some shorthand notes which I assume are abbreviations for the types of crochet stiches used and how many per row, but there is no glossary in the instructions, nor do the abbreviations used match standard crochet stitch abbreviations I found online. I was reasonably sure I knew which stitches the abbreviations referred to, but this is a beginner book ADVERTISED FOR KIDS, and should have included more information.Regarding the eyes - the video stops at the end of the crocheting, but before adding the dinosaur's eyes. Assuming you get that far, be aware that the plastic eyes provided are intended to be attached using the HOT GLUE STICK included in the kit; Since a hot glue GUN is not part of the kit, you will need to have your own to attach the eyes.Summary - Instructions are terrible for beginners, but you do get a lot of supplies with the kit. I will eventually finish this as the dinosaur is very cute. BUT, it will have to be after I learn how to crochet with an actual beginner's kit.

Very nice kit
Bought this for my granddaughter who is a beginner at crochet. She was happy to get it and impressed with the "tools" that are included that can be used for lots of projects.

Instructions in booklet are not correct
The instructions in the booklet do not match what is demonstrated in the YouTube videos that are linked to. In the videos it will tell you to make a slip stitch at the end of round 1 when creating magic circles, but in the booklet it tells you explicitly not to join.Additionally, when making the spine, it says to do make double crochets in stitches 3 and 4 and to then do a single crochet into the next one, however - there isn't another one, and on the video what she actually does is to do a half double crochet in stitch 3 and a double crochet in stitch 4.As long as these bits of information are kept in mind, or if you read the instructions from the videos instead of the booklet, then you can make the final product. There is sufficient yarn and fill to make two dinosaurs I'd think or to use as spare if you make a mistake, but only one set of eyes.Rating 3/5, as it's a nice kit, but the inconsistencies / mistakes in the instructions were very hard to work around as a beginner.

NOT BEGINNER FRIENDLY
as mentioned in many other reviews this is far from beginner friendly, the written instructions miss steps out completely, there is a link to a youtube series showing how to make the dinosaur start to finish but this is done at speed with no explaination or commentary and frequently blocks the view with the hands of the maker, Ive spent roughly 30mins trying to do step 1 !!! of this and slowly losing all hope due to lack of clear instructions, It also seems the quality of the kit is sub par as yarn is spliting and coming apart as you attemp the moves you can vaugely make out. Cannot recommend this as a beginner but if you understand what your doing and the terminology for Crochetting you may be able to figure this out.
