The person at the local hardware store told me that this should be safe around indoor pets. Does the mouse stay inside of the station?

No the mouse doesn't stay inside. However, we were told the same thing by an expstruminater. We love the stuff. Had no deaths of pets and I got rid of our mouse problem. The only downside was the house stunk for 2-3 wks, but I was ok with that because we don'5 have near the problem. We live in the country so we are going to have some, but we don't have near the problem.

Will mouse stink after they have died after eating this bait?

I don't know because they never ate this "bait".But mice (and most all dead creatures) will stink if you do not get rid of them promptly. It's not because of the bait.

What if my cat eats a rat who has fed on One Bite?

The poison will likely kill your cat by a very unpleasant death. I highly recommend using other methods besides poison.
