With Great Thock, Come Great Thockability
After extensive research and learning more about keyboards than one needs to know, I went through and purchased this keyboard. I’ve always had a basic keyboard; from the Dell keyboard I used as a child, to a Cyberpower “gaming” keyboard I got for free. Never really put much thought into mechanical keyboards other than seeing my friends go “oohhhh shinyyyy” to their seizure inducing RGB, and deafening Cherry Blue switches. That is until I heard a certain video involving T H O C K . Wow, I’ve not heard something more satisfying since hearing the Sonic ring sound at the gas station. This lead me to watch more videos involving keyboards. T H O C K, C R E A M, andC L A C K. Gives me scoliosis just to think about it. It’s so beautiful to hear. I need one of my own. This is an incredibly solid build. Not a creak or crack in sight, and it feels very substantial to hold. The PBT keycaps look very nice and should be resistant to wear over time. The text is a tad fuzzy, but it’s only noticeable if you look closely. The pro gamer RGB is extremely bright, but truthfully I leave it off, or on the “white” color, which is a very nice looking pale blue due to the keycaps. Keycaps puller and novelty keys are included, which are of the same quality as the rest of the board. It feels so nice to the touch.Stock and unlubed with the Jelly Black switches, the board sounds and feels great. I’ve seen that some people find these switches to be a bit heavy to the touch, but I disagree. This may be due to my wooly mammoth hands slamming down on the keyboard with every touch, but I like that it feels substantial to the touch, and I don’t see it being tiring at all, even with extended use.The sound is… very nice. Very nice indeed. Unlubed and unmodified, these switches and board sound great. Slightly on the higher pitched poppy side, but with a nice thocky undertone. I don’t know what these words mean, but yes. Yes indeed. Every time I press the space bar, it’s deep reverb circulates through my body. Though the keys are a tad bit scratchy, it’s not noticeable unless you listen carefully. The board does feel a bit hollow as well, but it’s not terrible. There’s little to not rattle on the stabilizers either. It just feels so satisfying to type on. I definitely recommend these switches. I won’t get bullied anymore when people hear me type over the mic.Battery seems great, though I mainly use it wired, with its included cable, which is also of good quality, but 2.4Ghz and Bluetooth are available. Bluetooth mode makes it a great companion to my iPad Pro. This makes it much easier to have people hear my superiority when typing at Starbucks. That leads me to the form factor. It’s great. I truly believe 65% is the best on the market in terms of usability to size ratio. Coming from gargantuan full sized keyboards all my life, it’s nice to have something that’s less tempting to take a nap on. I do wish Akko made a palm rest to go with it, as the keyboard is a bit tall and can be uncomfortable on the wrist. To sum it up, 10/10 would recommend. I really have no complaints.

It's so good...
Akko black/pink 3068b with Jelly Blue switches. I've tried a good number of keyboards and switches on my way to this one. I had reduced down to 60% keyboards where you lose arrow keys and most other functions. I thought I would like the desk space, but I didn't realize how much I want to have arrow keys readily available that don't require a FN key combo. So this is the next step up, 65% with one extra row of keys to the right side, so mostly the same desk space, but dedicated arrow keys return. I thought maybe the different sizing of the ALT, CTRL, Fn, and Right Shift might be too much of a problem when it comes to ever changing keycaps, and yes I'm sure it would present an issue with not being able to grab any old set of keycaps and hoping it would fit this board, but I have no desire to change the caps so far, and if I ever did, Akko makes other great sets that would have the keys with the proper sizes available. I thought maybe the smaller Right Shift would cause mistakes while typing, but no issues for me so far.I took a chance getting the Jelly Blue switches. I love them. I knew that I like most clicky switches, and I just started to discover that I like some linear switches as well (also by Akko), but these tactile switches are incredible. So fun to type on. This keyboard for me ended up being the type of purchase where for a week or two after receiving it I just looked forward to using it every day and kept doing typing tests online just to have a reason to type on it. And that hasn't totally worn off yet, I still love using this keyboard. I think now I've settled on tactile switches as my favorite, I see why people like smooth linears but I missed the typing feedback that lets you know when you've pressed a key. So this has all the typing feedback that I liked from clicky switches without all that metallic noise and rattling going on.The ASA keycaps are great, probably my new favorite profile, definitely prefer these to OEM or Cherry profile. I didn't think the black/pink was going to be my style, it was pretty much the only option available, but I actually really like how it looks. It's not a super girly vivid pink, more like a bubblegum color. I just have the ESC and Enter key changed to the pink accent keys and it looks great. All the keys seem printed fine, the legends are centered and look good. I do often prefer shine-through keycaps, it seems like Akko doesn't really do those though. So you don't get the legends that light up in the dark from the RGB lighting, it's a little harder to read. Could change the keycaps, but don't want to. Speaking of backlight, great modes and colors here. I just had a keyboard from another really popular brand and I was disappointed by how few light modes it had. This Akko board has plenty.I didn't even care that the keyboard was wireless or offered multi connections, I don't really like wireless stuff and having to charge a battery when the stuff just sits at a desk where being wired is no issue, BUT this turned out to be an awesome feature too, as this keyboard works with PS5, which I use right here at my desk too. So I can be typing on my computer, then if I go over to PS5 and I want to message someone quickly without having to type using the controller, one quick key combo on the keyboard tells it to connect to the PS5 instead of the PC, and starts working immediately. Whenever I'm done, one key combo connects the keyboard back to my PC. I was not anticipating having a use for the wireless functions, but this is awesome. This board has a nice weight to it. I believe it has a layer of foam between the PCB and plate, but nothing else padding the case, yet it sounds really great and sturdy, not hollow at all. Some boards even from Akko are now including a layer of case foam as well, but I don't feel like I need any more sound dampening. It already sounds and feels great. I've seen videos where it doesn't seem difficult at all to take this model apart for modding though, if you ever did want to add anything to it. While the case is just plastic, it all looks and feels great. The spacebar and larger stabilized keys all sound great, I understand there may be some lube applied from the factory already. Everything sounds and feels great. For some people their "endgame" keyboard is hundreds of dollars of custom parts, but for me I feel like this board is already pretty much exactly what I want. I think Akko is pretty much my brand at this point, when I do inevitably want something new to mess around with, I'll be buying more from them.
