Nice heavy Basketball sized Medicine ball
I was looking for a basketball sized medicine ball that was rubber and not leather. The leather ones are a little too mushy for me and I'd rather have a heavy ball. This fit exactly what I was looking for. The weight is what I was wanting. The grip is like a basketball. I don't bounce it on the ground. I just throw it up like I'm shooting a two handed shot and catch it. But, I tried bouncing it on the cement outside my house. It feels pretty solid with a little give. It bounces. I throw in down and it bounces back up about a 2.5ft. Very well done. The price of this one concerned me (you get what you pay for). But, in this case, I got exactly what I was looking for at a lower price. I tried the Power Systems Elite Power Medicine Ball at my gym and it was what I was targeting. The Power Systems is a quality medicine ball and would have worked. But, it is 1.7x the price of the SPRI. And, I'm ecstatic with what i got with the SPRI.

Great Medicine Ball
Very happy with my purchase. It's a traditional rubber medicine ball with nothing fancy added to it, i.e. handles. I managed to get it while it was on sale on Amazon. It's a very good quality and very solid. Thankfully there was no damage to the shipping box or the medicine ball when it arrived. But I will say that it did have a strong odor of rubber once I unpacked it. After a few days of it being unpacked and out of the box, the smell of rubber greatly diminished. Just bought a SPRI 12 lb medicine ball too that was on sale on Amazon as of this review and am looking forward to its arrival.

Great medicine ball
I'm very pleased with this ball. The weight is evenly distributed, the grip is like a basketball, and the size is slightly smaller than a basketball. At age 74, I just needed to work on maintaining strength and range of motion, and this is great for that.

8lb ball smaller diameter than 10lb and 12lb
The build quality seems fine. I own the 10 and 12 lb variants. Only issue is the 8lb ball is significantly smaller in diameter. As you can see from the photos in my review, the 8 pound ball is 26.5 inches circumference (8.5 inch diameter) The 10 pound and 12 pound variance have 29.125 inch circumference (9.3 inch diameter) If you’re looking to have a set of med balls that are the same size dimensionally, the 8 pound variant of these SPRI med balls is the “oddball” out.

Superb inflatable medicine ball, with basketball-like surface for grip.
Superb quality. I got this kind of medicine ball because of familiarity with Mitch Gaylord's "G-ball." I like the inflated ball with basketball-like surface that allows good grip. It is a little larger than the G-ball, so a few things I do with it don't work quite as well, unless my fingers were to grow a few more inches. That aside, this is very high quality, worth the price I paid and a big help in losing weight and adding strength.

This is the one you want
SPRI's medicine balls are awesome. We picked this 4-pounder up after a good experience with their 2-pounder. It has a nice grip and is very evenly weighted, making it great for workouts. It has some bounce, but as long as you do not add extra air, it is nothing like, say, a basketball. We do smashes and on a soft surface and it bounces back up about chest high, making for an easy retrieval. When our little leaguer is ready for a 6-pounder, it will be an SPRI again. My only complaint is that it is latex and is a bit stinky out of the box. Nothing terrible, but you might want to air it out in the garage for a bit before using, and even then, in the first few uses you will notice a slight residue and smell on your hands. That seems typical for medicine balls and goes away after a few uses. But, don't let that scare you away, it really is not a big deal and you will be pleased in the long-term.

Inferior quality!
I purchased this just 4 months ago and it form a 6" tear yesterday. It says it can be used as a slam ball but obviously not. Very dissatisfied that it only had a one month return on it. I guess I will buy a different brand now.
