Grand Canyon Serenade

This is a spectacular trip down the Grand Canyon!
If you have never been to the Grand Canyon but have always wanted to, this is the DVD for you! I have not been there, but have seen many still pictures taken by professional photographers. The photographs are great, but one cannot hear the rapids and waterfalls or the beautiful classical music, which I love. Video is taken from the top of the rim, flying overhead, to the bottom of the canyon where the Colorado river flows and visitors in boats ride the rapids. (It is amazing that the gear and supplies loaded in the back of the boat never move, although the people do.) Sunrise to sunset through all four seasons, one sees the amazingly varied vistas while listening to wonderful, carefully chosen classical music. The music cadence moves perfectly along with the scenery, especially the rapids. Some of the composers are Vivaldi, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky and Brahms. I watch this film often both to view the scenery and listen to the music. I now feel I have had the experience of visiting the Grand Canyon even though I did it in my own living room.

Beautiful Video, Well Worth It! (Classical Music in Background)
This was a great video of the Grand Canyon, with many shots of well-known vistas and many side trips to less well-known places in the area. All wonderful....Much of the HD is great quality, but some of the video is not as sharp as others. The background music is classical -- a nice selection of mostly familiar pieces. I thought it was an appropriate and non-obtrusive selection. There's very little speaking. The landscape can speak for itself, and it does! There were not a lot of reviews of this Blu-ray, but I found it excellent. I don't think you can go wrong with this! I strongly recommend this to experience something amazing with your "big screen" TV.This should be seen by everyone who loves nature....

Grand Canyon Serenade DVD
A friend had played the DVD for us before we went on our 7 day rafting trip through the Grand Canyon. When we returned, I purchased one for each member of our family who went with us on the trip. We love the video, the beautiful music and the commentary. After we returned from the trip and watched it again, it was much more personal and meaningful. I ordered 4 copies of the DVD and it came in a reasonable timeframe - but the package was open and poorly wrapped so that the DVD's could have fallen out. Amazing that it got to me somewhat intact .

No subtitles!
We had been looking for a good DVD about the Grand Canyon. After having read the positive reviews on this one, we bought it. After 10 minutes, we stopped. The scenes played were really beautiful. But there were no subtitles or was it closed captioned. We would look at the beautiful panoramic scenes, but had no idea what part of the Grand Canyon we were looking at! The only sound was the background music, which was some classical piece that, in no way, added to the joy of watching it.Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed and will never watch it again. So, unless you want a DVD on the Grand Canyon that shows beautiful scenery with no narration, you might enjoy it.

Stunning Place in Gods Wonder!
What a stunning range of filming this is .For anybody contemplating on whether to explore this great wonder and wanting to take a trip to this great place this DVD has what you need to get the feel of being right there in the moment for you. The only thing I was a little bit disappointed with was the classical music in the background. I bought this DVD in the hopes to learn something about The Grand Cannon but it wasn't to be. If you are looking for a docco on this great place this is not the DVD to buy, however, if you would like to admire its true beauty without the education this DVD is for you, truly stunning stuff.

Excellent service
Received the DVD on time, sooner than advertised, brand new condition. If you are ordering one for own use, I would recommend getting it in Blue Ray format. For my purpose however, I do not have a Blue Ray player at my school where we will be viewing it.As far as the music, I guess it's OK if you are into classical which I am not, nor are my students, so I will just play other music while viewing.

Glorious, sweeping views of the Grand Canyon
Apparently the Grand Canyon is the 2nd on the list of world-wide locations that people most want to visit. Having never been there I was quite attracted to this Blu-ray disc and it does not disappoint.Amazon gives very little information about this disc which may account for the complete absence of customer reviews. The main film is only 52 minutes long which is probably the right length. However, the 2 Bonus features (which are really just an extention of the main feature) probably add another 10 minutes or so. The disc gives glorious, sweeping views of the Grand Canjon accompanied by carefully selected pieces of classical music. The selection will likely appeal to most music lovers and it is presented in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound and a DTS 2.1 stereo option. The music includes:Dvorak - Serenade for Strings in E MajorErik Satie - Gymnopedie No 1Delibes - CoppeliaTchaikovsky - Sleeping BeautyFaure - Pelleas and MelisandeVivaldi - Concerto for 2 Oboes, some Brahms, Respighi, Grieg and Chopin. No details of the performers are supplied but they will not disappoint. The sound is rich and well balanced. There is no annoying commentary - just the occasional background of running water and the noise of the rapids when appropriate. Many of the shots were taken from low flying aircraft - minus the noise. The video quality is mostly very good with some shots qualifying for `demonstration quality'. If that had been the case throughout the disc I would have given it a 5* rating. However, on some of the scenes the sharpness drops and I guess they either ran out of HD cameras or perhaps they used older material filmed prior to HD. This is a pity because the drop in quality is very noticeable if you are viewing through a projector. In fairness, it may not be a problem if you are viewing on a 42" screen or smaller. I also think the technical engineers could have supplied a `chapter selection' menu system. Aside from these technical issues there is much to enjoy in this disc.

GRAND CANYON SERENADE Blu Ray
50% of this dvd is beautiful blu ray quality but the other 50% is standard quality and not too good at that so you get several minutes of B/R and then several minutes of old dvd quality. Why they did this I have no idea as the scenery is great. I will be returning my copy as much as I would have liked it on B/R.PS the dvd parts are not very goodGrand Canyon Serenade [Blu-ray] [US Import]
