Well built
Item arrived on time, well packaged and as described. Exceptional directions, quality hardware and components made the hour long assembly easy. Nice welds, good milling, robust components, should be a joy to use for decades. The included chainsaw tool was a nice touch. Thank you GRANBERG for American made quality.

Does exactly what i needed.
I had some old reclaimed oak timbers that i wanted to cut into planks. The timbers were over 13" wide and with this mill, made some very nice boards. I bought a Stihl 661 with 36" bar to use with this mill and it worked great with a ripping chain. The assembly took a little time but its easy to use once its put together. I didn't experience any brackets or bolts working loose. I cut two 16' l x 1 3/4" w planks and rechecked everything. All bolts tight and nothing loose. i've used it quite a bit now and no problems. If you are milling a lot of lumber, this may not be ideal but for smaller projects, works great.

Great tool
If you are on the fence about the Mark IV vs the cheaper G-777 I highly suggest going for this one. It is by far worth it. I have used this mill mated to a Stihl MS-310 and a 20 inch bar. I intend to upgrade to a larger displacement chainsaw and longer bar for future projects. But coupled with an Oregon ripping chain and the 310 this mill easily worked it's way through some of the hardest eastern hardwoods. Even the black locust milled with ease. One thing you will need when making slabs or lumber are several small size felling wedges to keep the weight of the wood from pinching the bar.

Made in the USA
This is a mill that is tried and true. Buy the original Alaska Mill from the family owned company that cares about their products and services. Good luck if you choose a cheap copy of an original. You get what you pay for.

Missing hardware, but once assembled a great tool
Missing some of the required hardware for assembly (2 carriage bolts), so I will need to make a trip to the hardware store.Once I got the hardware and assembled the unit, I went about milling a 14 inch diameter Alder log. It worked great! I am excited to start on more projects.

You get what you pay for!
Yes there are cheaper versions on the market, please don't waste your money. This is the tool you need and want if you are going to be milling your own lumber. I used it on a 'test run' project and made some posts and 2x4's for a fence around the garden, before cutting the boards I'll need to do the loft floor and roof sheathing for the cabin, worked well. I made my own 20' rails using Uni-stut, and steal plates on the ends shimming the center to a string line to ensure they were straight and flat.As a disabled vet, spending more than 20% of my monthly budget on tool is a big consideration, but I have zero regrets with the Granberg, and would recommend it to anyone needing such a tool.
