Skull and Bones - Standard Edition, Xbox Series X

It isn't very apparent when you are purchasing this game online but you need a $10 a month Xbox subscription just to play it. I played the 3 day open Beta about a week ago and I can't believe this game has been in production for 10 years, I kept thinking this is it? That's all it is?. It looks worse than a 10 year old game, and one thing is for sure its made for 10 year old's. The game play is ridiculously shallow and childish. Skull and Bones started as an add on for "Assassins Creed Black Flag" which was one of the best games ever made. It had compelling story and quest lines, the hand to hand combat was one of the best in any game ever and the open world Caribbean was vast and intriguing, a very realistic world full of things to do, islands to explore, huge island towns with tons of stuff going on, the islands were huge and mysterious. You could get off your ship any where, on any island and you never knew what you were going to find, ancient Aztec ruins, dangerous predictors, hidden artifact and treasures to loot. You could hunt and skin animals and make equipment and weapons upgrades with the resources. Build your ship area by area to improve your protection, weapon power, and several amenities that were worth grinding to get the resources for. The ship combat was exciting and realistic, all be it sped up to keep things from getting boring. There were tons of side quests to keep you busy so you could build up your skills and ship for the tougher story missions ahead. The world was full of things to do, random encounters, intriguing story lines keeping you on the edge of your seat. You were actually compelled to play on so you could see what happens next. You could even swim under water and explore coral reefs, sunken ships, sharks and buried treasure. Skull and bones has none of that, no hand to hand combat, just small boring towns with nothing to do at all, ridiculous dialog from bland characters that just stand there. No story that I could see, you can't even get off your ship except in a few small towns, even resource collecting is stupid, like you just sail your ship up to a tree and play a little mini game like moving a little super imposed saw back and forth. Ship combat is unrealistic and boring, the islands are tiny and you can't visit any of them, there is nothing to do. The world feels small, empty and there is no reason to go anywhere or do anything because its just not fun. I don't know what happened here but who ever worked on this game should be fired and imprisoned for this crime of a game that everyone thought had so much potential. I can guarantee that 100% of fans that have been waiting for years are in for a big disappointment, and everyone else will hate this game with a passion. I also read in the forums that its full of bugs and just doesn't work right. They had no business releasing this game, the project should have been trashed 9 years ago. This game isn't even worth your time to try it and see if you will like it because you won't. This is the biggest disappointment I've had in all my years of gaming. As soon as I saw a $10 a month subscription was required I uninstalled the game and opened a return request. Its not worth a cent, no less $120 a year to play. I wouldn't play this game if some one gave it to me and paid me to play it.

I really enjoyed the sailing mechanics in Assasins Creed III and Black Flag. I was expecting this game to be better than those games seeing as it was made by UBISOFT and a signifigant amount of time had passed since their reslease. After having the game a week I am very disappointed so far. The sailing is fine, but the inability to to stop the ship, jump off and go diving like in Black Flag is disappointing. This is an open sea game, but definitely not an open world.

Can’t play unless you subscribe to Xbox pass. Waist of $75. Bad idea for Ubisoft. I’m not paying 15$ a month to play this game or any game. Quit trying to rip off gamers. I hope ppl don’t buy this game to teach game developers a lesson. Instead of them hitting us in the pocket, let’s reverse the trend

Even if you want to play single you can't need internet connection and paid subscription totally mislead my pre-order

This game is one you love and hate, but recently I'm hating it more. It has frozen twice while I was playing and it was very difficult to start it again. Getting answers how to play is also difficult because there is no instructions explained well enough to navigate the game and it is complex. I have problems where I didn't get a specific tool necessary to upgrade to the other levels and do not know how to acquire that tool. I've advanced to Buccaneer and still cannot find where to get the missing tool. The game is far more complex than it should be and if you don't know how to progress you are lost!! From now on I'll never buy a game that requires a subscription in order to play, nor will I purchase one that recommends cross play and doesn't have one for solo player also. This game has too.many negatives over the positives and I'msorry that I spent $70 plus the subscription.

Was doing fine for a few days until I don't what's going on lots of glitches game froze with my stuff on ship loaded back in everything I had was lost had to collect everything agian now I did a legendry map pvp I got killed response in only to have the player that kolilled take all my stuff again so sick of this make some changes or change were I go in solo with no other players I will change my review until them I'm thinking to stop playing it all together

honestly the game feels like a game that could be played as a java based game in a web browser. they just missed the mark... was looking forward to this title but after playing it ..... i definitely won't be buying it. really is a shame they could have made a great game instead they released part of a game.Edited to from 2 stars to 1 star as it isn't even a 1 star title.
