Good shoes, using as "last resort" to replace now unavailable Red Wings.
My favorite black Red Wings are no longer made, so I had to find something to replace them for work. These seem to be sturdy shoes. I can tell you I had to "add 1/2 of a size" to my old Red Wing size to these to get them to fit, so they must run smaller. I had to send my first pair purchased back and reorder 1/2 size larger. Those shoes fit nice. The insoles are a bit hard feeling to me comparted to my R/W's, but I can throw some padded liners in them. I'm satisfied with these shoes as "less than $100" type shoes. The one negative I can mention is I don't know WHY Rockports always do this to me, but it always feels like there is a "hump" just it the front of the ball of my foot at the base of my toes on the floor of the shoe. After a couple weeks I may have "adjusted" to it or maybe I've pressed it down a bit, and I can deal with it I think. Bottom line this shoe is one of the only "understated and sensible looking" oxford work shoes you can find on the market and I'm happy with it.

Too stiff and heavy
I used to like Rockport shoes, but these are very uncomfortable. They are very stiff and too heavy. They cut into my ankles. Maybe if I wore them for a month to break them in they might be alright, but I don't have that much time. Returning,

Soles are soft
The nice thing about these Rockport shoes is that having purchased these same shoes regularly for over twenty-five years they always fit as expected, which is much more than I can say about many other brands. I have hard to fit feet, and with these I can purchase online without wondering if the shoes will fit. The only issue I have is that the soles are extremely soft, This makes the soles very comfortable, but also causes them to wear very quickly. I am lucky to get two years of use out of the soles, but the uppers could last a lifetime as they are built very well. Granted I put hundreds of miles on these shoes annually, but they are so comfortable after they are broke in I just hate the idea of throwing them away. If you look at them like dress sneakers it makes it easier to see the feasibility.

Best shoe for the money
I have two pairs of Rockports and wear them 5-6 days a week for work. I do have one older pair in my closet for slushy winter days that is over 12 years old but looks great. With some proper polishing, there is no reason that these shoes can't last several years. The reason I buy new Rockports is simply that the arch wears out after 5 years. Keep in mind, my more expensive running shoes have an arch that lasts six months. Those who buy Rockports get the best shoe for the best long term value. Before Rockports, I bought all the other name brand shoes. Nothing else comes close to quality and durability.Soon I'm taking a trip that requires a lot of walking for ten days straight but I want to look a bit formal. I am so happy that I will have my Rockports.

Best shoes that I've owned....
I really like these dress shoes. I have worn several dress shoes and these shoes, along with some SuperFeet have been the best I've owned. I work in a job where I walk a lot in dress shoes. I find these shoes, along with the SuperFeet are more comfortable than my New Balance sneakers with SuperFeet. In case it helps, I weigh about 250 lbs. I just think that many shoes don't take into account how big a guy is.

... indicated this was one of the top 10 most comfortable shoes. I was disappointed
Reviews indicated this was one of the top 10 most comfortable shoes. I was disappointed, however. They are rigid and somewhat heavy for a dress shoe. They offer little comfort via the internal and external soles. They do have roomy toe boxes, which was a plus. I would not order them again.

Great fit!
I have wide feet. So I was very pleased to find that I could order these in the proper width. The shoes arrived on time and fit perfectly from day one. They are currently second only to my gym shoes in comfort.
