Contrary to some reviews, this is a quality product that works as well as expected.
Moved into a new home with a badly unmaintained yard. I prefer manual work to gas-powered so my reel mower just choked on the junk weeds and seed-grass.Ordered this product in spite of some bad reviews and was extremely satisfied. It is about the size and shape of an unusual putter, with the same grip and swing - so GREAT for golfers! It is not effortless, of course, because it isn't a "frikken lazer"; it's a hand-powered scythe. I suspect many of the low-ranked posts here need to understand this better. This is of higher quality than the ones I grew up with but like other (experienced) posters, I suspect that if it were not serrated, I could sharpen the blade for a more effortless cut. The serrations are beneficial for lazy folks who don't like to sharpen their tools, but are a compromise that I find problematic. Were I to give one piece of advice it would be to offer a non-serrated option.Other than that, this tool has exceeded my expectation.

Handy
Really works great on thistles. The city complains about height, even if it's just the buds they send up. So with this it's so easy to just whack them, cutting neatly and easily. I cut down small fence line trees. A little tricky and probably dangerous. WEAR GLOVES. It's easy to assemble. They provide the tools. One complaint. Instead of giving you normal lock nuts, they give you half-height locknuts like jamming locknuts. Those are rare. They cost more but they don't work as well. WHY???? We'd like to have a normal locknut we can keep the wrench on, right? There's plenty of threads sticking out for a normal locknut. I'm an engineer. So hardware is an important thing. They provide locktite which is nice. You could unscrew the thing if you didn't locktite the handle on. Anyway, highly recommended. Much more sensible than a 2 stroke motor powered weed whacker when all you want to do is whack weeds. It works. The thicker the grass the more your golf game helps. I recommend it. I got 2 in case someone wanted to join me. That hasn't happened yet but crossing my fingers. Or should I uncross them? I don't know how that works. You know how this works. Blade on the end of a golf club Cuts. Nice. My grandparents had one when I was a kid. I went around whacking up the place. That was 50 years ago. Time proven design. It has a serrated edge. It helps. It CAN BE sharpened if you hit a rock dead on. Use first, one of those, otherwise crummy deals with the hi tech ceramic triangle or edge and it just pushes the metal back where it goes. That's because if you file it, it'll make a mess and you lose your metal.. If it's knarly, a tack hammer and delicacy can do similarly. Well that's my recommendation but I'm sure others have opinions too. However, it does not take damage easily AT ALL. It's very tough and sharp. I highly recommend it. Buy 2 in case of emergency. Just kidding. Your neighbor will want to borrow it if he sees you. A spare can be a lifesaver.

Basically a scam
This product would've been a two star, if it were not for the assembly instructions which basically make it so that you can't get a refund. For the product itself, it's not very good, as others have stated. It's only capable of ripping out a few blades of grass if they're long enough. The edges are quite sharp, but still not good enough to actually cut grass. Now why this product is basically a scam, is because the assembly instructions tell you to add glue (provided) into the threaded handle. After it dries, this basically prevents you from disassembling it, which prevents you from returning the product. Is the glue even functionally necessary? I highly doubt so. It's most likely there to trap people who actually follow instructions to get the best out of a product. The line "refunded, no questions asked" may as well not exist.

Labor Intensive Grass cutter
Solid build and easy to put together. It cuts green and less dense grass very easily but for thicker patches or overgrown grass takes a few swipes. It's very labor intensive and you can get quite a workout from it. I can mow my suburban backyard with it in about 3 to 4 hours of nonstop work. My yard is about 3000 sqr ft. Once you get into a rhythm you can fling grass everywhere and not realize it, also pay attention to pets so you don't hit them. basic stuff.
