Excellent pump, much better than my old Truma one.
I never did like the Truma pump that came with my caravan. Twice it fell apart in my hands whilst trying to unplug it, and it was also very difficult to insert, even after lubricating the "O" rings. The pipe itself was far too rigid, and the angle the unit comes out of the caravan pointing downwards (what a stupid design), makes it difficult to use on an uneven pitch. The final straw was when it blew a 10amp fuse in my caravan, and finally stopped working completely whilst we were away on holiday. Do you get the feeling I didn't like the Truma pump? After reading many reviews of this pump, I decided to try the Whale one instead. It worked out of the box first time, and so far I have had no problems with it. It clicks in to the socket in the van perfectly, doesn't leak and is easy to insert and unplug. The hose is much more supple and the Aquaroll can be placed in any position, without the pipe kinking. The pump is much quieter and appears to pump the water faster than my old pump, so really pleased with that. Time will tell if it proves reliable, but so far its been excellent.

What a difference.
I had a problem with the manufacturer supplied Truma pump and decided to read some reviews, to help to pick the correct replacement. I came across an online review site from a caravanner, who reviews many products and gives an unbiased? reviews. Check out the "Trudgians "on You Tube.I can confirm this pump works well in my caravan, even though the system it connects to, is a Truma Ultraflow system. This model is made by Whale, for the Truma system. It also seems to be a lot quieter than my old unit and as the Trudgians site states, more flexible, easier to use. Only just fitted and used it, so its early days. At the moment, would definitely recommend as a replacement pump. Slightly cheaper and also British (Northern Ireland) made.

Such an improvement over the original truma pump
I bought this after having endless trouble with my truma ultra flow pump on my new (2nd hand) caravan. The truma unit did not fit well in the socket, it let air in the system causing the pump to run continuously. This caused a flat battery on our first off grid outing which was an expensive lesson. was so tight the unit was so tight that it felt like it would break the housing too. After a bit of research I found these whale units were thought to be an improvement so I ordered one from Amazon.Prime delivery so it was here the next morning 👍🏻It fit’s perfectly in the truma housing and the hose is much more flexible than the truma version with much less memory (doesn’t stay bent in a circle) so it goes to the bottom of the water barrel which is much better.I’ve been really impressed with this pump and would recommend to anyone thinking that there must be something better than the manufacturer’s original - there is!

Fixed my problem
I was having an issue with my truma pump & worried I needed to get a whole new fitting to sort it. However thanks to a caravan family I follow on Youtube (The Trudgens), I tried this and wham bam, its all working. So much easier to put on, there is also a handy slot for you to pop the pipe whilst you refill the aquaroll. Brilliant. 10/10

Whale is just cruising along on its huge captive market
As has happened with other customers who bought this, the pump was dead out of the box. What makes this particularly galling is that you really aren't getting much for nearly fifty quid, and you don't have many options when it comes to where you get your caravan pumps. When I removed the pump from the water container, the body of the pump was warm, so it was clearly receiving power. I popped off the removable strainer and tried (gently) to shift the impeller, but it wouldn't budge. I happen to have another High Flow Pump that works, and the impeller on that moves easily if nudged with a toothpick or similar. So clearly the impeller on the new pump was jammed when it left the factory. While I was messing around with the pump, I was amused to see a pretty silver sticker reading "Quality Assurance 6094XD18". Whoever 6094XD18 is, and wherever in China they labour away for pennies an hour, they clearly aren't very good at their job.I've always thought Whale produced over-priced, poorly designed products, and this faulty item only confirms that view.
