How long does each sound play? I want one to play for 3+ hours.

I've had it play white noise without the light on for two whole nights without being plugged in. It has a timer you can set at 30, 60, 120 mins

How long does it hold a charge for? My son sleeps for 10 or so hours so I'd need it to last at least that long using both the nightlight and sound.

I received mine on February 6th and I charged it before I went to bed and it's now February 22nd and I haven't had to recharge it yet

Does this come with a usb for charging? is this portable?

It comes with a usb charger, yes. And it is portable. I can charge it and it will last all night long, and then some, without being on the charger.
