Rooftop Sprinkler (gray) - Iron Owl - Wildfire Ember protection Sprinkler for your Roof

In 1993 I lived in Laguna Beach CA and a wildfire combined with high air temperatures and fast Santa Ana winds roared through our town. We lost no lives thankfully but our town lost 366 homes, 50 of which were on my street. I was renting at that point and gathered my things and left early. When I returned most of the homes on my street were burnt to the ground. My rental was still standing in a row of 3 homes that made it through the fire. My neighbors to each side of my place had stayed and watered their roofs until the fire department could get to them. Ours were the only 3 homes that made it in this section of our street. I don't recommend staying during a wildfire but my neighbor's efforts to water their roofs and mine made me realize that I could have an impact on the chances of my home surviving a fire.I have uploaded a video you can watch that shows me doing a trial run on the sprinklers you are considering here. I highly recommend this product as it is well built and easy to install. The product designer/company owner was very helpful to me by phone. A few points to consider: He recommended a hot water hose to connect the sprinkler as they are more durable. I purchased a 50 foot hot water hose at Home Depot. I was tempted to purchase a metal wrapped hose but he let me know that the actual diameter of hoses of this type are generally to small.I also found some textured spray paint to make my sprinkler blend in with my roof shingles. This was easy to do, I suggest covering the sprinkler head during this process. My sprinkler is working well and I have ordered another to put at the other side of my roof. I highly recommended this product.

These Iron Owl rooftop fire sprinklers are very well made, adjustable to various roof pitches and types of shingles, plus they have real 'Rain Bird' impact sprinklers, which are adjustable for full or partial circle and distance/pattern.I have them in series on our roof in up the Sierra Mountains, with a booster pump that delivers 60+ psi operating pressure to the system, for outstanding fire suppression and protection.The question 'Lightweight' is totally invalid, as any such devices need to have adequate weight to keep them in place during a major wind event. These units have weighted legs and also use standard steel pipe, so at about 8-10 pounds apiece seem about right.

After the recent wildfires here in San Diego, I began to look into what more I could do to protect my home in the case of another wildfire. My home backs up to a canyon full of dry brush and a fire starting back there has always been a concern. I searched around online and finally found this Iron Owl Rooftop sprinkler. I ordered the Grey because it matched closely to the color of my roof. The product was shipped promptly to me, and quickly too. Received the sprinkler in two days time and the assembly was very easy.The installation was very simple and fast. It took me just a couple minutes to install the sprinkler on the pitch of my roof. I gave it a test run for thirty minutes to see how it would perform. After the thirty minutes I was amazed to see that the sprinkler had not only saturated my rooftop with water, but also the landscaping below and the trees on either side of my house. The sprinkler sprayed 360 degrees at what I would estimate to be forty to fifty feet. I feel much more confident now having the sprinkler on top of my roof as I know that it will do a much better job than me being on the roof with a hose. In the event of a fire I can turn the sprinkler on and gather my personal effects and evacuate safely knowing that my home is being better protected. I would recommend this product to those living in areas that are prone to wildfires.

Works well but based on what it is made from it is too expensive.

This product is built to last in even the most challenging situations. With the recent LA fires I purchased 2 of them and while I hope I never have to use them, they are a low cost semi insurance policy should I need to evacuate.

really good product quality material they use rainbird sprinkler no plastic all metalI built some since fire was closed to my house but they sent me the rooftop sprinkler really fast If I knew I would have buy more instead to build them because the finish product is excellent and the difference of price between build and buy it is not worth the hassle/time to make it ! just buy it !I never put 5 Stars but you deserve itThis can save a house from fire

the price is a little high, the idea is a good one if you live in the forest.

I bought this during the wildfires to protect my home. I’m surprised how far the spray covers my roof. It was easy to assemble, but you have to have a hose long enough to reach your roof. I feel like I will be more protected for the next wildfire.
