Q: Is one of the bits good for making a Flat bottom ?

Yes, the cylindrical shapes burrs in the kit can make a flat bottom.

Q: Can these 1/4 inch shank burrs be inserted into the 1/4 inch collect of Milwaukee M12 easily?

Our 1/4 inch shank burrs can be inserted into rotary tool's 1/4 inch collect easily, Such as Milwaukee,Ingersoll Rand,DEWALT,Makita,etc.

Q: does it provide any clear info what each bit is for? i wouldn't know which is for wood, plastic, metal, etc.

There are no instructions at all. I am a retired tool & die maker. I use them for working on metal. These will work on any kind of metal including hardened steel. You don't need carbide for wood or plastics but these will work on them. You will need to clean them frequently. I don't recommend using these for gems as one person enquired about. Gems are harder than hardened steel and most are harder than carbide tools.

Q: Does this work on stainless steel and mild steel?

My set worked great on mild steel and should work as well on stainless steel.
