Well this product is "okay". The caviar is very soft. Would I order again? No. Am i upset about ordering it? Also no. But really, its not worth $80.

Taste is satisfying.

I love the caviar, but strongly dislike the container. It was very hard to open initially even with tools. Then I ate some and closed to eat the next day. It was more difficult to open the second time I opened it. If you are 55 years or older or have a hard time opening containers, I don't recommend this item.

The first impression was great. A dated label on the tin stated that the roe had been canned the day of my order, and had a 30 day life. I opened the can (with a little difficulty) and the roe was fantastic! Not a single broken egg, all fresh and popped in my mouth! I could literally eat it with a spoon (and did), but I eventually served it on mini blinis, with a layer of creme fraiche, roe, minced onions and a spritz of lemon. Superb! But tomorrow I may go back to eating it by the spoonful! And the price is reasonable.

I was amazed that I placed the order on Saturday with an expected Wednesday delivery. I was expecting it to go out on Monday but it actually went out on Saturday. Yes, I was worried. But it arrived on Wednesday, with still some of the ice packets frozen and the product cold. It was good, not great but good enough that I will definitely purchase again. The eggs were a bit harder to bite then I'm used to, but I actually like its additional firmness.

I love salmon caviar and buy mine at a local New York merchant called Zabars. They've not had any for quite some time so I took a chance and ordered from Amazon. What I received cannot be eaten. The eggs have a hard waxy skin which does not break up upon chewing. They look fine and the shipment arrived cold, but the product is disgusting. I paid extra to overnight the shipment and it cost three times what I would normally pay. I am very upset and recommend that Amazon remove this vendor and write their own report and evaluation. No merchant could possibly be proud to sell this merchandise. Please DO NOT read and accept the four star average review on the Amazon website. They must have been written by the vendor employees and not real customers. I've been eating red caviar forty-five years and have never encountered anything so bad. Shame on you Tsaritsa Fresh! I've gotten this 3 times. The first time it was wonderful!--5 stars, fully as good as I've ever had in St. Petersburg. Each egg popped in my mouth--perfect! But the next 2 orders were not nearly as good--sort of mushy, no texture. I probably won't order this brand again. Too bad, but I just don't feel I can count on it.

DO NOT BUY. The packaging is good and the taste is good. However, the caviar has a defect because the skin on the caviar is too tough. This is likely because eggs may have been collected too late. I like salmon eggs and eat them often so I know what they should be like. If this were a local purchase, I would have taken it back. Because this was bought online, I won't bother returning.
