With removable pads like the old swim trainers, and much more comfortable than the puddle jumper.
It hasn't arrived, yet, but I have been looking for this product for a dog's age. The construction is that of the swim trainers that my kids had 20+ years ago. We went swimming every day one summer, removed a pad every week with great fanfare, and they were swimming (dogpaddle) the length of the pool without aids by the end of the summer. I just bought two for my grandchildren. I will make an addendum once the things arrive.Addendum: Both swim trainers (to two different addresses) arrived on time, and are as awesome as I remember. My cautious 3 year old grandchild who, last summer, refused to wear either of two different styles of puddle jumper type lifejackets, or arm floats, and who insisted that she absolutely COULD NOT set foot in water deeper than 1 foot, discovered within ONE HOUR that she felt safe wearing her SwimWays trainer at a local, zero entry, sandy, lake beach (The Beach at Lake Avalon in Bella Vista, AR.) She was paddling around very nicely in water out of her depth by the time we were ready to go home, and could only be persuaded to leave at closing time by a promise of a return to The Beach the next day. She has been going to The Beach on a daily basis for the week and we have been able to remove one of the 9 pads. Of note, this product is NOT a life jacket, so we have kept a puddle jumper for her to wear when riding in a canoe with her dad.

Awesome swim vests for kids almost swimming
This are excellent for your swimmers that just aren't there alone, or if you have 2 kids and only 1 mama and want the extra support. We were using puddle jumper and they are great, but the kids can just float with those, with these they have to work to stay afloat, which means mom gets naps negate they are tired.Love how you can pull out the foam until they are swimming on their own and not even realizing it.***This is not a life vest, they do need to know a little about what they are doing to use this vest.

Child gained confidence in swimming abilities and now swims on their own
My son has taken swimming lessons but was not ready to try swimming without the use of a flotation device. We discovered when we let him swim with the puddle jumpers he became dependent on them and started loosing what he learned in swim classes. However, when we tried to get him to swim without the puddle jumper it was too timid and not strong enough to keep himself a float. We then tried this and it made a world of difference. He had to use his arms unlike with a puddle jumper. This caused him to start doing swim strokes again and he became stronger and more confident after a few swims with would removed pads (one from front, and one from back), and he would have to swim a little harder to keep himself above water. We could see he was becoming stronger and stronger, and continued to removed the pads, two at a time, until we felt confident he could do it on his own. The main this is this gave him confidence in himself to do it on his own. This was a big deal for my NOT dare devil child. He is now able to swim without the help of any flotation tools. I wish we would of used this the beginning of the summer. I think it took less then a month from the time we started with the swimr to the time he was able to swim without it. I would highly recommend this for parents that want their children to learn swim. This is not like puddle jumper where a child could not sink at all. The child will have to work to keep themselves afloat and needs supervision.

Great purchase
This has helped 3 of my children learn to swim. Taking out pads as they get stronger really helps them grow.

I always recommend this product to friends.
Great product for kids who are strong enough to hold their head straight in the water and already familiar with swimming with a puddle jumper. This is a step in the right direction in learning how to swim. It allows them full use of their arms. I had one for my daughter five years ago and just purchased this one last summer because I love the product. Ability to take pads out on their back and belly reduces the amount of assistance they are getting as they become stronger swimmers. The rubber bands on the sides are a little annoying to loosen and tighten but all in all a very safe product where as it never loosens while being worn no matter how many times my three-year-old jumped off the diving board in the deep end.

Great floatie
Excellent floatation device. It does not go up to shoulders as I expected, but works well at chest level.
