Good for What it is
I've had a few subwoofers some paired with top shelf equipment (U.S. made JBLs) some paired with low grade stuff. I have this set up as a 2.1 with Cerwin-Vegas. This is a not a blow you away shake the room sub but it is good for what it is -- something to put a little more low end into a small surround or 2.1 system. As other reviews said, it does not have an on/off switch but does boast to have an automatic shutoff when there is no audio input (I don't trust that and am using a power strip as an on/off switch.) Compared to other subs under a hundred dollars I'd say that the Monoprice 8" sub has a richer deeper sound (the best I've seen in this price range). I do like the smaller size of the cabinet on this item and the attractive design.

Pretty nice but could be better.
Just be advised there is no auto ON or OFF like most all home subwoofers. You must manually turn it off and on, or leave it on 24/7. Also there was no optical cable in my sealed box as detailed in the instruction manual. I'm using it with my tv speakers and it sounds good for low bass. Built in amp might be 45 watts of power at most, and if you turn up the subwoofer volume too much, you will hear hum/noise. I emailed Bestisan support and got zero response. Biggest negative is no auto power ON or OFF. How long will it last powered on 24/7, who knows.

Good value, multiple connection options, does its job
I bought this to boost the bass of my Sony Bravia OLED TV which has very good audio on its own, but is a bit light on the bass. It really does not need a sound bar, just more bass. I first tried the Bestisan’s Bluetooth interface which worked fine, but the Sony disabled it’s speakers when Bluetooth audio was on assuming headphones were in use. Next I connected via the optical interface which works great, but the Sony does not adjust the volume of the optical output. So I will need to deal with that, but it’s just a minor nit. Otherwise, this is a great value and delivers all the bass the Sony was lacking.

Deep Bass "I don't think that word means what you think it means"
There are many words I would use to describe this subwoofer, but deep bass are not two of them. It's a bit better than the 2 shelf speakers I had on this receiver, they have 4" woofers, the sub adds maybe a little bit.. not really enough to tell a difference though truthfully. It does have a nice size though, it fits nicely under the desk. Using every trick for increasing the efficacy of a subwoofer it's adding only a marginal amount of bass... I'm not going to return it as it does add a bit, and a bit is better than none. UPDATE- I was contacted by the company that produces this... the young lady stated they were going to give a $20.00 refund for my trouble, that's not been done yet, I guess we will see. She also gave instructions to view a video on how to take the rca cable and run it from the sub out on my receiver to the input on the receiver. I told her how I'd done that, and even used the Bluetooth option from my phone to see if it was a wonky input (and still got less than stellar bass) and not received a reply from that email... this thing seriously has lousy volume... I've run the volume to full, run the frequency to full along with maxed volume and got very little out of it... deep bass this is not.
