Mostly okay
Came over laminated and with a ding and a chip near the top. Also the kerf cut was off center. It does have some heft, beefier than one I purchased near same price.

good fit and shape
I use the handle in a wood splitting axe. The length is good the handle is a little thick for my hands and gloves together. It could be a little thinner around the base at the head.

Not enough info
I wanted to replace an old forest service axe handle and decided to try this one out. 1. It's covered in varnish. Doesn't say that anywhere on the ad. 2. It's about 2 times as thick as the one I had on before. Which is fine, just would of been nice to know before purchasing. 3. The wooden wedge provided is junk. It was broke clean in half upon arrival and just crumbled when trying to install. 4. It showed up late. So, in other words. I will not be purchasing another one from these guys. And the one I did purchase will probably be tossed into the, (just in case) pile.

Good handle.
I needed a replacement handle for a single bit forestry axe I acquired. I have used True Temper hafts in the past, and like the straight grain and Appalachian hickory make up. The specimen I received had straight grain with little figure. The curvature was spot one, and the knob was large enough to catch the hand without being awkward. There was two small knots (about 1/4 diameter) on the grip about an inch up from the knob. The haft fit easily into the eye, and was easily secured with the supplied wood wedge and metal wedge.I subtracted a point because the handle had a lacquer finish. Lacquer has a bad habit of causing blisters, and no tool that could be used over a period of time should have it. I understand that True Temper just wanted to extend the life of the handle if abused, but it would be better to allow the end user to finish it. If a finish is necessary, a linseed oil of wax finish would be best.
