SHWD Vol. 1

An intriguing start for a yuri/science fiction blend
SHWD reminds me of another recent series, Chained Solider, as both involve women fighting dangerous entities. In the case of SHWD (Special Hazardous Waste Disposal), we have Sawada and Koga, who work with a unit fighting dynamis, creatures spawned during a recent biological war who have the ability to warp people's minds. The war might be over, but dynamis keep popping up. Sawada is a determined fighter and Koga is the new recruit and the two might make a great team. There is also the American woman Leo, currently assigned to Japan. We are getting hints about the characters' lives and their interpersonal dynamics. I must say Koga and Leo look as if they were using steroids, given their incredibly muscular builds. The story is interesting and the cast shows promise. SHWD might prove a good yuri/science fiction blend.

Awful
I found this manga impossible to read or be interested in. The really buff characters have really big boobs and butts and look like John Cena and the rock with wigs and drag queen padding. When women bodybuild it eats away at the breasts. This is why it is impossible for a female body builder to have large breasts. The artwork is bad. The redhead doesn't even look like she belongs in the same manga as the buff girls. Showed this to the ups store worker before she smacked the return label on it and she said, "oh no. Oh no. Oh hell no." We are both lesbians. I'm white (slavic) she is athletic black (with French and Korean as well) it was actually offensive to women and lesbians. I'd give it negative stars if I could.

Refreshing
I loved the fact that the manga focused more on action rather than fan service. While it's definitely a yuri book, there weren't any explicit sex scenes. It was also great to have adult characters as the main characters. Interesting storyline, and I can't wait to buy volume 2!
