One of the great mech games
Great collection of 2 ps2 games, that was released on xbox 360 and ps3. I chose to go with the 360 version instead of the ps3 for 2 reasons. The 360 version came up on here for 2 bucks plus shipping. I've also heard the ps3 version has low down issues. I can't confirm this for sure, but I know the 360 doesn't suffer from this. These are 2 great mech games. The graphics look slick in hd and hold up pretty well after all these years. Dark futuristic stylized anime graphics, the second game especially holds up well. I think this is an unjustly overlooked game. Yes it can get repetitive but most video games do.The second game is the better of the 2 superior in every way but the first is still worth playing. The controls are smooth they work very well. Far away shoots with the option to use a charge shot, close up is melee sword combat with charge attacks. Analog moves your mech around while Y ascends and A descends. It's very streamlined works well. The sound is good not great. The english voice work is good no better or worse than a typical anime. The music is more of an background thing with drum machine loops and a faint techno sound that picks up when combat. If you love Mech games you'll love this game.

best mech based game on 360 easy!
i wasnt a big fan of the zoe series on ps2, it lacked depth of motion, the mechs were choppy looking and the control was rather touchy (much like the armored core series which really didnt catch my fancy until the newest incarnation for ps3 which is fantastic).what konami did here is not just port the game over with enhanced visuals but theyve addressed nearly every issue to the point that this is easily the best mech game on 360 and one of the top 5 games ive played all year. its so fluid youd swear it was a brand new title by a new and improved developer.easily 5 stars and a chance to try out the new metal gear which turns the series on its ear (in a good way). kind of like ninja gaiden black meets metal gear solid.at 40usd this is def . worth the price...4 1/2starsi did not factor in the japan only virtual on 4orce when i put this review together, but the games are totally different styles (one is a mech fighter and one is a level based adventure so i dont really think theres a comparison, especially when you factor in the fact that to be enjoyed thuroughly you really have to have the hori twin sticks for v-on, which i do, but i think im 1 of maybe 200 us players that actually shelled out for them since the cost as much as a console when they were released andcan now run you as much as 1000 usd if you try to snatch up a pair from someone that own one. voot 360 is good too but again, not really a comparable title on very many levels. sure beats the gundam dynasty warriors series ill tell you that :)

ZOE HD Collection: A classic retold on Xbox 360!
Zone of the Enders HD Collection for the Xbox360 is an amazing remastered videogame. Hideo Kojima graced us with a compelling storyline and galactic conflict. By going against the trope of pre-teen mech suited pilots and damsels in distress. The English-language dubbing of the cohesive dialogue between pilots Artificial intelligence units and other red shirt characters is entertaining to hear after all of these years. The creative and otherworldly designs of the mechas or aptly named Orbital Frames allows gamers to delve deeper into the mythos. Subtle improvements, like Dolby 5.0 sound, HD graphics and solid controls aid the game's funfactor. While the game's instruction manual lacks much depth.Implementation and Design (3/5)The first game teaches you how to play through in-game tutorial. A feature that I think was well designed and implemented. The classic reluctant hero and bloodthirsty tyrant trope works well for the story. This was a foray into the psyche of a war beleaguered bystander and his struggle against the horrors of war. The post-cataclysm environmental stage design was ahead of its time. Orbital frames are sleek, fast, yet still posess massively destructive components. You will be reminded of their ferocity by screams of besieged innocents, and unseen colonists on the planetary civilization of Mars. Your fight for liberation will traverse the cosmos. Albeit with rather lonely looking loading screens in between scripted dialogue and combat manuvers.Enough of the angst ridden story. Here's the rundown- Achievement support 5/5I for one am appreciative of the Achievement support, and I am ready to take on the challenge of hopefully completing the game from start to finish. Trying to get all of the achievements in the first game is going to take some doing.Difficulty: 5/5 This can be a punishing game to some and a breeze to others. Try it on Normal to earn as many achievements at your leisure. Pattern memorization and timed responses are your friends.Bonuses 3/5: Konami also kept the 2-player split-screen Versus Mode which unlocks after you compet the first game. I have yet to enjoy it. It would been nice to have a behnd the scenes DVD style option. Because in this case I feel like you get the game, and not much else. I think there is an art gallery somewhere.Enjoyment. (4/5)Team ZOE really had something with this game, the visuals, character development, voiceovers, and musical score may show it's age. However, the experience that results from re-living the White-knuckle battles, to level up Jehuty in zero gravity, the camaraderie, loss and the ethical dilemmas that harden both battle scarred heroes, heroines and villainous veterans aren't to be missed.Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner certainly lives up to the hype surrounding it's predecessor. With a maturation in visuals, feel, and sound. I haven't quite played it it yet though. So suffice to say, I am a bit biased towards it. I can share that Kojima Productions really gave the mech pilots something to enjoy, during the early PS2 era, and that it's worth another look. Two great games for the price of one, can't be beat. Thank you Kojima Productions and Konami fans for demanding that this galactic epic to be preserved for future generations.

Went in Excited, Left Puzzled
I played both of these games when they came out for the PS2 and enjoyed them a lot. The HD versions definatley look better, and the games plays smoothly, but they just do not stand up. The story did not engage me and all of the characters felt flat.It was a fun trip down memory lane, but not something I would suggest to a friend.

Battles are extremely long and repetitive with difficulty mainly caused by poor camera angles
A shallow game with a plot that makes no sense. Battles are extremely long and repetitive with difficulty mainly caused by poor camera angles. There is little sense of progression in gameplay or character development. The translation is terrible and the characters are constantly speaking as if in some kind of fever dream.
