Heavier rated jacks, need a lower gear reduction, Or a much longer handle.
The jack itself works great. The only thing I was disappointed in, is that for a larger capacity jack than the one I was replacing, the ratio of turns on the handle, to the inches of lift, is exactly the same as it is on the smaller 2000# rated jack I was replacing. So. if you are buying this product to replace a smaller jack, thinking the load will be easier to lift, forget it. It will still lift what the smaller jack will lift, and a lot more. But it is not any easier to turn the handle to lift the same weight as the lighter duty jack. I was hoping the gear ratio would be such, that while I might have to turn the crank handle more times per inch of lift for the same load, (in my case, the tongue weight of my RV), that it would be a little easier for me to lift that weight. So while the jack may be stronger, and able to lift more weight. You too, will have to be stronger to lift that weight.PS: UPDATED POST ON March 7, 2015...After using the jack for the first time, I realized it was actually HARDER to lift the tongue on my RV than the old 2000# jack was. Upon further looking and measuring, I not only found that while the overall gear ratio was the same as the old 2000# jack, BUT THE CRANK HANDLE WAS A FULL ONE AND A HALF INCHES SHORTER. Which gives you less leverage, and making it a lot harder to turn when lifting the same weight!!! (Strong jack. But poor design. It needs a lower gear ratio, and longer handle to become a great jack)!PPS: Another updated post. As you will see in the picture, I cut the jack handle and extended it from it's original 6.5 inch length, to a full 10 inches of length. (About as far as you want to go on an RV tongue without possibly hitting your hand on the coupler latch). With the added leverage of a longer handle, the jack works much easier now. Maybe the factory will take note of what I did here, and modify their product to have a longer handle to make it perform better. (Retired welder here. So I did the modification myself). And it looked really nice after I painted it...

Smooth as silk
I have a 2013 Forest River Wildwood 26tbss (basically new). I parked my rig in my storage space after a long trip and realized found that I could not even raise my trailer to uncouple it from my truck....the stock jack was shot after only a few trips. I had to use a floor jack to detach my trailer and I immediately ordered this Fulton Bulldog jack. Quality looks great (welds and material) compared to my stock jack. I was very happy that this wasn't going to be a $200 repair as well! It shipped in a nice heavy box and had no damage. I usually have a curse with these sorts of things but I'm happy to say everything lined up perfect and I just used the bolts that came with my stock jack. This new jack feels smooth and amazing compared to my stock. No reason that thing should have completely failed so soon. People mentioned that due to the gearing it takes a little longer to raise and lower....the trade off is a very nice and easy lift with minimal effort. Obviously I can't say how it will hold up after a couple years but I'm willing to bet pretty well. Great price...so even though my trailer is only about 6,000 pounds....might as well go for the bigger 5,000 pound jack! Happy customer.

Heavy Duty Jack
This is a quality jack for a great price. I replaced an older electric jack on my '86 Airstream and it fits perfectly. I think the handle is the perfect length and lifts the nose of my 29 ft trailer no problem. I have to agree with a few other reviewers about two things. 1. The shipping stickers on the jack are for real. I mean they are stuck very well. No worries though. Simply wipe them down with Goo Gone and let them sit for about half an hour. They will peel right off in one piece. 2. The shipping box that the jack was in looked just like others had said. It looked as if it had been air dropped into a battle zone and dragged all the way to my house behind the UPS truck. This did result in a few scratches to the paint on the jack but no actual damage. I am very satisfied with this jack and wouldn't go back to an electric one for nothing. Two thumbs UP!

Good but a little harder to crank under load than I thought it would be.
Using it on my 16’ Casita and it works really well. Frees up the hitch real estate right behind the jack by having the handle in the front. I’m a little surprised how much muscle it takes to crank it once you are raising the trailer. I was looking at the Ultimate Jack too but this was cheaper and looked a little sturdier and it is pretty darn sturdy. My only complaint and it’s a relatively small one is that its a little hard to crank once you pulling the real weight of the a frame. It’s doable especially with two hands and you can spin the crank real easy with one finger until you start pulling the load, then you will want to use two hands, especially if you’re a girl or an old ornery wimpy wuss like me.

Great jack
Mounted this on my 18ft car trailer. With the side crank the jack is pretty quick and is easy to crank seems to have the right ratio. Super easy to mount and lifts the trailer high enough for an AEV ram and compact enough not to drag.

Upgrade before it's a problem.
My 28 ft Keystone camper came with a standard 2000 pound tongue jack made by Curt. I've had this camper six years and on this last camping trip we had to park on quite a grade. When I tried to jack up the camper I could hear the teeth shearing off. Bought this 5000 pound Jack to replace it. Needed one with the handle in the front so this was awesome. Works like a charm. If you have a stock 2000 lb Jack on your camper I suggest you upgrade before you get into a situation where it's critical.I did the same thing with my pop up camper upgrading the 1000 pound Jack with a 2000 pound variety many, many years ago. It's overkill on both but saves arm and back strength.I found other 5000 pound Jacks in the $30 price range but needed one with the crank in front so got this one. Very happy.

High quality jack
Like that it is heavy duty with a nice gear ratio; use it for a 26’ v-nose race car trailer, and loaded up with car and all our gear, you can still jack up the front of the trailer, when hooked up to the truck, to unload the car.

easy to install and operates smooth and strong
easy to install and operates smooth and strong. All I will ever need to lift both trailer and hitch of the Dodge 3500 to make it easier to insert and chain up the weight distribution bars.

Perfect replacement for top wind jack.
Perfect replacement trailer jack for my enclosed trailer. This jack feels like it's well built, jack mechanism is smooth and easy to use, not overly hard to lift a loaded trailer. Definitely recommend this model over top wind ones.
