DEWALT 18V XR Brushless Compact Impact Driver, Tool Only, DCF850N-XJ

As a DeWalt user, I already own the beastly DCF961, 'The Big Boy'. But I needed a more compact option and picked up the DCF850, which I nicknamed 'Petite Blondie' due to its tiny size. I had no idea it would save my entire weekend on its very first use. The job was a full turbo replacement on my Nissan Qashqai 1.5 dci, which requires taking the DPF out of the way first. Everything was going fine until I hit a dead stop: one single, rusted nut connecting the EGR cooler pipe to the DPF. It's in a horribly tight spot, but I managed to get my old Parkside and Black & Decker impacts on it. I gave each of them a good 30 seconds of continuous impacting. The result? Absolutely nothing, except a chewed-up, rounded-off nut that was now in even worse shape. The job was completely stalled and I was properly stuck. Honestly, I was about to give up for the night. Then I remembered I had the new DeWalt. I put 'Petite Blondie' on the now-damaged nut, expecting another failure. The difference was night and day. It let out a rapid burst of impacts for maybe four or five seconds and brap, the nut was spinning free. The sense of relief was incredible. Performance: This experience proves that performance isn't just about a torque number on a box. It's about the quality and speed of the impacts. Where my other tools just slipped and damaged the nut for 30 seconds, the DCF850 delivered the right kind of sharp, powerful blows to break it free in under five. Size/Ergonomics: While my other tools did just about fit, the compact size of the DeWalt made it far easier to handle in that restricted space, allowing for a better angle and a more controlled application of power. Value: I paid just under £100 for this tool. By saving me from a rounded nut in an impossible location, it prevented me from having to cut parts off and saved me hours of pure frustration. It literally paid for itself and then some on its very first job. Conclusion: This is an essential, must-have tool for any mechanic or serious DIYer. It's the perfect blend of a compact design and brutally effective power that gets you out of the most frustrating situations imaginable. It's already earned a permanent place in my toolbox. I've attached a photo of the hero DCF850 next to the mangled EGR nut it conquered. Highly, highly recommended.

Had this impact driver 5 months now, used it regularly and it's brilliant can't fault it, good value for money, and enough torque for any job and it's so small and light

Great device but use speeds 2 or 3 for highest torque. I like the smaller body which allows access to restricted spaces. Bright LEDs give a clear field of use.

Great drill and compact

I cant really express how impressed I am with this impact gun. Having used the top named brands in the past I can honestly say this is equal to or better than it's rivals. The clever sensing on its first setting controls the lostening or tightening and stops after cracking the nut. As for the other power settings, they should release just about anything in the automotive world. Drive shaft nuts are removed with ease, you can really feel the heavy impacts as it chugs away. Great tool, highly recomended.

I use it every day got good amount of power and very durable dropped it off high scaffolding and still functioning great the only negative thing is it's difficult to screw in tight corners due too it size and shape

Je possède cette machine depuis maintenant plusieurs mois et j’avoue qu’elle est en plus d’être pratique grâce à sa taille compacte, une visseuse à choc de premier choix ! La puissance est au rendez-vous pour toutes les applications courantes, vissages et dévissages même sur de longues et grosse sections ! Plusieurs vitesses sont disponibles pour ne pas casser les tête des vises c’est le top ! Ou même pour éviter d’abîmer et de s’enfoncer trop dans les matériaux. La gâchette prend aussi en compte là vitesses de rotation, plus on enfonce celle-ci, plus la machine tourne vite, parfait pluie être précis ! J’avais auparavant une série d’une très grande marque allemande au logo vert … qui étaient bien trop lourde et peut maniable… là je retrouve un véritable confort de travail, et sa petite tête permet d’accéder bien plus facilement aux tâches désirées. Dewalt au top du top ! Je ne changerai plus et surtout des prix bien plus raisonnable que la concurrence !
