We have been cooking with many new recipes requiring lime zest. Leaving us with copious amounts of unused lime wedges The ground lime is a wonderful substitute. Smells great, tastes even better. Used it in couscous and with chicken. YUM without the work !

As a lifelong Southerner with no experience with Middle Eastern cooking, I bought the Ground Persian Limes for a recipe that "called my name." Dried limes don't seem to be available in my area, so I took the risk of ordering from Amazon. The flavor is assertive and complex, hard to describe, but with a tangy citrus flavor that went well with the chicken recipe that also uses turmeric and allspice. In reading about Dried Persian Limes, I found that they are prepared by soaking in a brine and then drying in the sun until they are almost rock hard and smaller than an English walnut.They are used either whole or ground. The preparation makes me think that this bottled spice will keep its flavor for a very long time. If you like the flavor, it would be a good addition to soups or any dish that you would normally add a splash of lemon as a flavor brightener. It was packaged in a beautiful bottle with tight fitting hinged lid with a metal latching device. It was quite easy to open and close. The packaging was elegant with the bottle wrapped in tissue paper and placed in a nice box - great gift for the cook who wants to try Middle Eastern cooking. It came in two days which was helpful since I had already bought the chicken and eggplant before realizing that the spice was not available locally.

First of All, I love the introductory to the products; the way they package your spice bottles states profoundly "WE CARE ABOUT YOU"! The packages of spice, as well as the bottles, clearly state the expiration date. Everything I have ordered arrived perfectly, no spillage or breakage. The twelve bottles of various spices and packages of dried herbs I ordered, their ingredients are fresh and fragrant; which means, great flavor is added to the foods I prepare. I am in the process of updating all my spices and dried herbs and learning how to cook foods from different cultures. Therefore, I need reliable quality products. I am aware that I choose to remain conscious of my choices of what goes into the food and the body that is healthy and favorable.For several years I have used The Spice House which is where 95% of my spices and herbs are ordered and will continue to be ordered because the quality and packaging of their products are superb! I use ground Persian limes almost daily in tea or in cooking. The ground limes add great flavor to my morning tea and into the Middle Eastern food that I cook. I think that the price for the bulk ground limes is fair.There is an increasing awareness of how much damage plastic is doing to our planet. That is part of the reason why I make an effort to buy spices in bulk, because there is overall less plastic used. That said - and I don't know how feasible this is - I would like to see an alternative to the plastic used to contain the spices, and in the outside packaging. Another possibility is to use recycled plastic in some, or ideally all, of the packaging. In that way, the plastic is getting two or more uses instead of getting only one use. I'm happy to pay somewhat more for a product if I know that a concerted effort is being made to help the planet. It could be a marketing tool towards those of us who are trying to reduce our impact on the Earth. Thank you for your consideration.

In the past, I have used lime juice rather than the called for dried limes in the particular Persian chicken recipe that I make.I admit that I was a little hesitant using these because said recipe requires piercing the limes before adding to the soup. It was incredibly easy to pierce!While delicious using straight juice, using dried limes added an amazing layer that has been missing!
