Mellow Shirt Dog Anxiety Calming Wrap, Large, Lime

The product came as advertised and within a timely manner. The material and design was as advertised. It was easy to put on my dog and adjust as needed.My dog wore it for most of the day. He seemed to be calmer as he wore it. He did not fight against it and seemed very comfortable.I had to leave for a couple hours, so I made sure that it fit well before putting him in his kennel. Upon arriving home I discovered a happy, but naked dog. He had eaten his way out of the mellow shirt!I do not blame the product, due to the fact that my dog has eaten many things. A few examples are dog beds, throw pillows, electric blankets, and a love seat. So I give this product this particular rating based on how it arrived, the quality of it, the ease of it, and the overall experience. Yet I had hoped it would be more beneficial for my situation.

My dog runs to hide in the closet or under the bed at the first rumble of thunder. I bought this in anticipation of July 4th fireworks. I thought she would hate it, but she seems to actually like to wear it. When we put it on her the first time, she sort of slid into a puddle on the floor and laid there like a zombie, which is the intended effect, I guess. She does seem more calm during bad weather when she's wearing it. On July 4th, I set her up in the closet (which she has claimed as "her room") with the shirt and a white noise machine and she was pretty content.Sizing: She is 25 pounds with a slim build, and the SMALL size fits her just right.

(update)We found a design flaw in this product. It still works, but we left the dog alone when we went out and when we got home the dog had removed the shirt. The design flaw is that there isn't enough Velcro and the flap around the chest goes up and doesn't have a protective cover (like in the Thunder Shirt/Vest). It is still a product that works, but because our dog has figured out how to get it off we are going to have to return it. We need something that will stay on.We were given a Thunder Shirt for our dog after a friend lost their dog to cancer. We had told them our dog had a problem with fireworks and thunder. They told us that their dog had the same problem, so they gave the shirt to us to use. We noticed a big difference in our dog during storms and loud events.I told my mom about the shirt and she wanted one for her adopted dog, which the dog had serious sensory issues. It was always nervous and we had to keep it on drugs to subdue it. When we took it to the vet, we had to muzzle it because it would bite the vet.Today, about an hour ago, I took the Mellow Shirt over to my mom's. I put it on the dog and instantly, the dog's disposition changed. I mean, it was like flicking a light switch off. It was that quick.The dog would never go up to my mom, it always ran away from her. Now it will approach her, even with her in the motorized chair which the dog dislikes. It follows her around the house and will not leave her side.

It is functional kind of. The under portion is thin and rolls which looks uncomfortable for my dog. It is hard to get it to cover enough surface area as it doesn't stay in place. Cheaply made.

I got this for my grand pup. She’s afraid of thunder and firework… and I really didn’t want to pay what they are asking for a ThunderShirt. I asked my daughter if she felt this helped little Mocha, and she said yeah… but that she wasn’t to sure it was due to a “hugging” sensation it’s supposed to offer or if due to the uncomfortableness and distraction it offered. So… we don’t really know.

The size runs large. If ordering may wish to order size smaller.

I never write reviews, but I had to on this one. I was very skeptical of this actually working. My dog didn’t bark once during the fireworks this 4th of July. This also calms her when people come over, etc. I would recommend for anxious dogs. Not perfect but it does work. I haven’t compared to the Thundershirt or whatever but for the price this was a great purchase.

My dog is so old it’s sad. She’s 14 years old, but has always been scared of loud noises. Fireworks, pots and pans, me swearing when I trip over something. It all scares her. My Lab is 75lbs with lots of lymphomas so she’s pretty lumpy all over, but I love her. I didn’t want her to be scared. She’d scratch doors, awoo at me, and headbutt my shins until I felt them go numb.We got her the Mellow Shirt, XL! I was skeptical because she was so lumpy. I didn’t want to hurt her by stretching it too tightly. Once arrived she sniffed and licked it. Her version of “I like this”. It fit like a glove without causing her any pain! First night of thunder at our new house and yes, she had to sleep in our room, but slept like a baby. The material is so soft! Its prices fairly unlike those other brands, and fit my poor lumpy dog perfectly!

Perfect for the summer since it’s made of a thinner then the thundershirt witch is made of a thicker material witch can be too hot for the summer but good for the winter. Helps keep my little morkie calm when he’s stressed:3

Our small dog has always had a fear of thunder and especially fireworks. As soon as we hear thunder in the distance or fireworks we put her calming wrap on right away and she settles right down. I would definitely recommend this product!

This has really been a great product for my dog Zoey. She is a rescue, and has only been living with us since September. We had a really bad thunderstorm, and after that, any noise she heard that she didn't recognize would make her start to shake like crazy, and she wouldn't stop for hours. We tried holding her, comforting her, setting up a crate she could hide in, we bought a pheromone collar, and nothing worked. Finally we ordered this wrap, and we've been so happy! The first day or so I wasn't sure it was working, she was still shaking a bunch, but now she is almost completely back to her old self again. If she starts shaking we put the wrap on her, and within minutes she stops. We are so grateful!

My dog is a skittish rescue and she trembled the whole time I put it on her and I did not notice any calming effect. Very disappointed
