Poorly designed and even more poorly constructed.
Unfortunately this damper flapper vent thing is made really really cheaply. There are tiny little pegs that are supposed to hold the flaps. The tiny little pegs break really easily and then that flap/louver thing just falls out and there is no way to replace it or fix it. The peg is far too small to glue and if you do manage to glue it, there will be way too much friction for it to operate normally. The bug screen in this is just a piece of mesh fabric that it burned/fused/welded in 4 tack points to the plastic frame. This is not an effective method of attaching the screen. It leave the whole edge wide open. Only the corners are attached and as the mesh frays there will be no screen at all for pests or birds or whatever. Very poorly designed and even more poorly constructed.

Pure Junk
What a piece of crap, do not waste your money. Louder blades fall out, screen is barley held in place. I would return it if I could find all the parts that blew away.Art

Poor Quality, 1 vent broke already
poor quality, 1 vent broke already. they put four spots of glue to hold the screen in place. the screen is cut so badly that it doesn't cover the hole correctly.

Order something else.
Received initial order, bottom louver broken. Requested replacement, same problem. Not worth it.

Flaps blow open in the wind and stick
I had a single flapper type vent that made a lot of noise when the wind blew, sounding like a machine gun. So I tried to go with a different design with this multiple flap vent. As soon as I installed it there was a light wind and even with that it blew the flaps open and the lower ones lifted vertically such that they blocked the ones above from closing. It is good there is a screen in these to prevent insects coming in while they are stuck open. The problem is that the flaps are too thin and lightweight and that is why they lift up and jamb the upper ones. I know this because I bought a cheaper one from Home Depot and it is made of much heavier plastic and does not have this problem. And it was cheaper. I bought this for the gray color so I would not have to paint it. It does look great but has this one issue that is problematic. Thicker, heavier fins would fix this problem I believe.

Great vent
It was a perfect fit for what I needed and it was an exact replacement from the one that I had and let me tell you it was a very difficult to find this exact one, the one I had before this the flaps or specifically the top flap kept getting stuck in the upward position anytime I would use the dryer so on the new one I did a little trimming to it on the ends of it to make it a little bit looser so that way when the dryer was on it would blow the air throughout the flaps with ease and when it was done the flaps had no problem going back down and shutting the way that they should, but I could not be more happy or considering that I could not find this item anywhere else and the price for the item was more than reasonable and I'm thinking about buying another one just to have as a backup for years down the road because after so many years they do get very worn out and dirty, but I do wash this one from time to time maybe every 3 months just to clean any dirt and lint that is stuck to it and it slides right out so it's very easy to clean and once you're done it's just as easy to put back in, there is no hardware like screws or anything of that nature it just slides right off and slides right back in so I would definitely recommend this product if it happens to fit you outdoor dryer vent... 👍👍

Ok for now...
This product is not going to last I can tell you right now, it's very leanly made in the terms of sturdiness. Plastic is very flexible, and will probably not last more than 2 years at least compared to the local product at stores. I got this because I was curious, and I wanted a brown colored item because that's the main color of my house features. I was also curious about the screen, the anti-pest screen? Is even more flimsy than the rest of the structure. I have a feeling I'll be ripping it out to be able to clean the dust out I was hoping I'll be able to disassemble it. if you want something to arrive to your house quick, get this. If you don't mind replacing items every couple years go ahead and get it. I'm someone who likes to set it and forget it.

Very Fragile
I installed this vent on my ShelterLogic carport. When I was installing it, I accidentally dropped it and one of the vents broke off. The unit is extremely flimsy. I bought a replacement and successfully installed that one (did not drop it...).Update - 1 year later: Just checked on the vent and noticed that the top louver broke off. I assume that a strong side wind was the culprit. That and a cheaply made product. The louvers are held on by a tiny plastic pin. Needless to say, I needed to replace the entire vent. I ordered and installed a stainless steel version. It was twice the price ($25) but is worth it. I don't want to worry about doing another replacement. I am downgrading my original review from 3 to 1 star.

Thoughtless noisy design.
So all in all I am going to keep it. I had to modify it. The plastic is okay. The hardware is OK. It's an OK product, but the design was thoughtlessly noisy. My installation has this product at the end of a 6" tube. The product whistles very loud. I figured out that the whisling comes from all the vents and louvers and reinforcing plastic connections. If you think about it, it definately is a 6" opening duct screen, and the pest-screen stuff probably does protect against something as big as a mosquito, but the air flow is very hindered by the design. I estimate half the flow is blocked by the louvers and pest control. This product rVERY MUCH restricts air flow, and the restriction causes a whistle, and it's therefore unexpectedly noisy.

Not a Pest Guard Screen - Solution
This exhaust cap looks good, the flaps seem to be sturdy contrary to reviews I have read. The screen is poorly fastened or glued to the exhaust cap, specially when the air flow works toward loosening the screen outwards. For the price the vendor charges for the vent, it should come with screws and anchors. That would help at having a flawless installation. The old forgotten adage “customer satisfaction.”It is made from ABS plastic and the vendor claims it is UV stabilized. I this true it does not fade or becomes brittle from sun exposure.I have tried to find a low-profile vent cover with Pest Guard Screen for small bats, mice and centipedes that have gotten into the vent, but these type of vents with guard’s screen are hard to come by.I thought this guard was the solution, but I was wrong:1 – The guard screen is made from the fiber glass, same product used on window screens.2 – This screen has not a chance to stand to mice or bats. Never mind chipmunks that can open holes on recycling bins or garage door seals. Some buyers claim that the screen clogs when used on a clothes dryer exhaust, in my case I use it to exhaust the humidity from an indoor clothes dryer room, however I would like to also block vermin and critters. My suggestion to the vendor or the buyer is the following:1 – If this guard is use is for a clothes dryer get a ½” steel galvanized mesh 5 x 5 “ or a 1/8” if you want to stop critters and large volume of lint is not a problem.2 – Cut it ½” larger diameter than the diameter of the 4” vent, try to cut it so that loose metal strands are left as they will be vent with needle nose plyers, see photos.3 – Vend the strands so that this DIY screen will fit graving into the guard walls.4 – Wear gloves and push the screen even and slowly all around because if you don’t it will go in very quickly past the mid point. If that happens slowly work it out towards the middle of the guard pipe. From the outside it offers a lot of resistance for anything trying to go in the vent, and that's what you want. The vendor could make a lot of money with this modification as there is not other vendor that offers this solution that I know of. I just hope they send me one for free when they get a die to do this at industrial level.

Fatal Design Flaw
The pins on the louvers are extremely small and fragile. The top louver pins broke even though I did not remove it for installation, just the slight pressure of the back of my hand broke it as I installed the vent. The pins reminded me of the plastic tags on scaled model kits that allow you to break away the part, then easily break or shave off with a razor. When compared to the original vent’s louvers (lower) they seem micro. I melted in some steel pins for now but plan to replace the whole vent, maybe with a metal one. Although the vent installed easily, I suspect that it will not last a Canadian winter. There was also no hardware included (screws) to install it.This vent needs a complete re-design of the louvers. I cannot recommend it.
