In principle, a necessity should not require additional thought.However:Two brands I wear—Nike and Columbia—have this persistent un-lacing problem. Other brands—New Balance, Reebok and North Face do not.Finally fed up with this daily struggle of re-lacing shoes, I explored replacement options and discovered the Lace King brand.First thing you’ll notice are the nifty little screw-top, clear plastic tubes within which these laces are nestled. Secondly, you’ll see a variety of available colors and sizes to fit most shoes. Very nice!These laces smoothy and quickly fed through existing eyeholes without any challenge to my patience. In my case, I chose the basic black and basic brown colors and 45-inch length to fit existing 5-eyehole shoes. They fit perfectly.Lastly, the ACID test. I laced the shoes in the morning, as usual, and went on a walking expedition to downtown Chicago. And what do-you-know. No problems! Stayed laced all day long. Amazing, right? It’s what anyone should and must expect from a quality shoelace.In summary, these are sturdy laces produced in a variety of attractive colors and necessary sizes—that remain laced—all day long.

I never thought I'd rave about shoelaces, but Lace Kings Round Rope Shoelaces deserve it! They're incredibly well-made and have transformed my shoes from drab to fab. These laces are so sturdy, they could probably survive a zombie apocalypse. Plus, the colors are vibrant and add a nice pop to my kicks. I love the brilliance, color, and length of these laces, but they are a pain to lace traditional dress oxfords. They need to be thinner/skinnier then they would be perfect.

I gave these laces three stars because they are the nicest looking sneaker laces I ever bought. However, if you look at the photos, one of the laces is frayed and about to break, and I have had to repair the lace tips (aglets) with epoxy because they were all shredding.When I buy athletic shoes, I almost always replace the laces immediately. It upgrades the quality of the shoe and the appearance. The replacement laces have always lasted as long as the shoes, up till, but not these. The shoes still have plenty of life left in them but the laces will need to be replaced soon. Take a look at the photos to see what I mean.
