This is a well written book that enables readers to understand both the theory and the implementation of writing workshop. The authors provide examples of children's writing as well as detailed information about the components of writing workshop such as mini lessons.It's an inspiring book that makes teachers eager to introduce writing workshop into their classrooms.

I was disappointed with the packaging. My book had a tare on the spine and it looked liked someone had put two holes in the package. For $33.00 I should have received a book that did not have anything wrong with it. I did purchase this brand new.

Not only is this book chock full of sound advice, rationale, and examples (a good balance, too!), but Katie Wood Ray is a remarkable author herself and serves as a wonderful model as she writes about teaching writing. I read this book cover to cover during a pretty densely packed quarter at school and have gone back to it again and again as a rich resource.

This book really makes sense to teachers and gives us real life examples and language to use with our students! Awesome buy!
