These were not hard to instlall, and my signal is better than it has ever been.
I thought these were going to be very difficult to solder on to coax cable, but they really were not. My VHF radio had been installed by a radio shop, and never really got out very well. I purchased what seemed to be inexpensive 90 degree terminations for the cable. My signal is better than it has every been. I am extremely happy with my very reasonably priced cable terminations. You DO need a decent soldering iron, not a gun, and not a torch. So long as you have that, installing should be a snap.

Who in the hell needs a female with a male crimp pin?
ALL BUYERS READ THIS!! Okay, I'm pretty good at improvising. That being said, I have NEVER seen or heard about an SMA male adapter in a female fitting. Evidently, they do exist. I now own some. It was my fault. I use the female fittings all the time making antennas. I do not use any reverse polarity, and less than 1% of applications call for them. BUT, they do exist. I was in luck to have some 1/16" brass tube stock, and made production in time. Be sure your gender is what you want. Maybe the GOP is correct- gender benders are a problem. CAUTION- Assault weapons are NOT the remedy for this.

They work well
I bought these to build out 2m/70cm QRP antennas and found that when paired with the Eightwood RG-316 coax, you can solder the center sleeve to roughly 3-4mm of the center conductor and the conductor and insulator will slide into the inner collar of the shield crimp sleeve giving a nice safety keeping the shield from touching the center conductor. Assembly is as easy or easier than a PL-259. I've used these with Baofeng, Retevis, and Yaesu radios with no thread or pin fitment issues.

SMA male connector
fits perfectly on RG174 cable. I was able to make my own custom cables for my electronics workbench. I would recommend these connectors for the the DIY

Saved the cable
I use a RG-174 feed line with my UHF/VHF HT HAM radio to the mag mount roof antenna on my car. These cables are not designed to handle the rigors of constant flexing and strain inevitable with this use. Hence the original cable pulled out of the connector after a few months. What do I do? Cheaper to buy a new cable. More fun to fix the broken. After screwing one up in the learning curve I got the 2nd on correctly and it has been working perfectly. Now I have enough connectors for 8 more breaks....I hope not.

Not for the feint of heart
RG-174 cable has a stranded center core conductor. You must solder a tip to the wire and then insert it into the main chassis of the connector. If there is ANY solder (even after wicking off) on the side of the tip, OR you melt the insulation between the center conductor and the braid, YOU CAN NOT INSERT THE TIP INTO THE MAIN CHASSIS OF THE CONNECTOR. It was so frustrating that I clipped off the tip and repurposed the cable. I bought a couple of male to male SMA jumpers and saved myself the frustration. NOT FOR THE FEINT OF HEART!!!!
