Recommend? Yes. Good value and sturdy.
I gave the feeder 4 stars because it's probably bigger than you need and the plastic base has faded a bit. It also can be hard to gauge how much nectar is in the feeder as the plastic wrap on the glass bottle obscures the contents. (A tip for the manufacture would be to include a clear stripe down the bottle wrapper so users can see the nectar inside.) More details:I bought this feeder about three months ago and have seen great results, with dozens of buzzing hummingbirds fighting for a spot. After some trial and error, I learned to only fill this giant vessel about a quarter to a third full, as our temps fluctuate quite a bit here in Southern California. (Nectar should only be out a day or two if temps rise near 90 degrees.) We make our own nectar (1 cup sugar to 4 cups boiling water), and store it in the fridge for up to a week.Issues: I have found the plastic base to be a bit tricky to open (in order to clean it thoroughly), but a slender knife usually does the trick. My feeder also is in direct sunlight part of the day, so I've seen the top of the plastic base fade a bit to pink (see photo). The birds don't seem to mind. I'm about to order a second feeder for the back yard. Babies have hatched and I can't keep up!I'd recommend a bottle hanger although they seem a bit pricey here at Amazon; I crafted one from a wire hanger until I found one on sale at my local hardware store. As with most hummingbird feeders, you have to act fast when you flip the vessel over to screw on the base. Do it over the kitchen sink! We've had no issues with ants or bees, btw.

Food for thought
I like this feeder but don't love it.Does it work? Yes, it works very well. I did have an issue initially where all of the liquid drained out. The bottle was attached firmly to the base, there didn't appear to be any obvious reason. I suspected that the pressure from liquid was enough to cause the base to leak but after subsequent refills this as not been an issue. I've chalked it up to human error.Things that would make me love it. Wide mouth bottle. Bee / insect guards. Ant moat -- I've seen this on other feeders; I'm not sure how effective it but thinks its cool and love the idea of a moat on a feeder.

Our new favorite hummingbird feeder vs perky
We have been fans of perky pet for over 20 years but now find this a better fit. The reasons for us are, hanger is easier to place on a hook, easier to fill, red coating seems to keep juice clearer and no need for bad red food dye and painted flowers do not break or need removing for cleaning and therefore we do not need to buy replacements and also serve as bee guards..a good thing as our squirrels had figured out how to tear off the perky pets yellow flowers. We have found glass feeder vs plastic are better..less likely to grow or absorb germs and birds favor them. Cons..hard to clean base but not impossible and coating on outside seems to be a plastic coating, unsure how long will last and makes difficult to see level of fluid remaining.

The best hummingbird feeder
This is the best hummingbird feeder that I've found. It's not easy to clean mildew out of the bottle or the bottom part of the unit but it can be done.

Esay to clean & humming birds love them.
I have found that the hummingbirdds just perfer certian feeders and this is one of them. They like the single rim perch base. I cut a third of the plastic away on the bottom of the bottle so you can tell when it near empty. Bottom pulls apart for cleaning and use a bottle brush for the top. These feeders last.

Hummers Love it
This is my third feeder of this type. Love the size (one quart) and I like the fact that it is made of glass.. The only issue is that do to the vine design, it is hard to tell when it needs to be refilled.

Holes too small
Love the large capacity. Still changing it out every day, but it beats 3 or 4 times. Had to peel part of the pretty red label down so I could see the level of the sugar water inside. We don't color our feed, so it was impossible to tell where it was. The main reason I gave it only 3 stars is because the holes for the birds are too small. Every time I take it down, there are shavings surrounding each hole where they have forced their bills into them. This can't be good for the birds. I've left it up because most of the birds feeding from it are young ones.
