Very impressive for the price
I just got this lens mere hours ago. I'm using it with an A7rii and so far I'm really impressed. Autofocus is MUCH quite than the 50 f1.8 from Sony. Autofocus is a bit faster than that lens too which surprised me. Manual focus is smooth. I had read some complaints of other off brand lenses like rokinon having laggy manual focus rings with lots of play in them, that is not the case here. I would say there's a bit of chromatic aberration in very bright high contrast situations but it's perfectly manageable in post. I also noticed the images are a bit soft at f2.8, particularly near the edges, but still perfectly usable. But anywhere between f3.5-10 fand it sharpens right up. It does have a bit of trouble getting autofocus quickly and accurately in low light compared to the Sony 50mm f1.8, but then again this is an f2.8 lens, you're not buying it for superior low light performance. So for crispy night shots you'll probably be fine tuning the focus manually. Bokeh isn't bad wide open but if you want creamy bokeh you really need f1.4 or 1.8. Besides 35mm isn't great for portraits anyway, 50-80mm is better for that. 35mm is an excellent all around lens for out on town shots, some landscapes, travel photography. The lens is light at only 80g. From what I can tell, it's all plastic except the flange where it meets the body. No weather seal here. The lens cap is a bit strange, though a Sony 49mm cap fits fine, so I'll use that instead. No lens hood is included, I thought a tiny good was included... I guess I imagined it, I probably wouldn't use it anyway.I'll update my review if I find myself dissatisfied over the next few days. I don't think I will be though. In summary:It's comically small and positively adorable. Image quality is very high compared to the price. Don't expect Zeiss image quality for these prices though you won't be disappointed either. I wish it had a slightly larger aperture but this is the sacrifice you make for a tiny lens.

very sharp, excellent for crazy low price
seeing this lens in person, feeling it, and also knowing its a 2.8..you might think this lens is inadequate. but now ive been taking pictures with this for a couple of weeks and it does not disappoint. do not regret not saving up for a 1.4 or 1.2 version.. i already have faster lenses but at different focal lengths that suit my needs for portraits. this is wide angle anyways, so for most ppl using this for portraits, they would want the backround to be sort of shown off anyways. this lens has NO fringing whatsoever but some minor flaring if pointing directly at the sun. although its easy to edit it out in post.very plastic, light, with small glass elements make this look cheesy but omg the quality..if you take alot of landscapes, you wont be disappointed. can be used for decent portraits also but if i didnt already have a good portrait lens or two... i probably wouldve saved up for a faster aperture version..although most ppl stop down their lenses anyway to show off a good scenic background along with the subject (f/2.8, f/4.0, etc)..so dont think f/2.8 isnt fast enough or wont produce great photos).ive updated this lens as soon as i got it so its not really slow..does make minor noise when focusing but im not regularly shooting in libraries, so its not a problem for me.

Light, Small, Good IQ, Cheap Build Quality
The price is very good for its form factor, image quality and relatively fast autofocus. Its autofocus does tend to hunt on my A7III, but it's not too bad. My only dislike is the cheap, plasticky build quality. It feels like a toy rather than a piece of glass, but it's understandable considering its price. Also makes some noises while autofocusing but that's not a big deal for me. Its premium counterpart (the sony/zeiss 35mm f2.8) is 3-4x the price so this is a bargain in comparison.

This makes your Sony A7I/II/III into a full frame camera that fits in your jacket pocket!
I own 4 other lenses for my Sony A7II and they were all much more expensive than this one but this is the lens that is on my camera 90% of the time. I can literally fit my A7II into any jacket pocket with this lens on it. My Sony A7II is now smaller and lighter than both my Fujifilm mirrorless (APS-C) & my Nikon DX DSLR. I never thought my smallest and lightest camera would be my full frame camera.Build quality is impressive for the price. The lens feels solid despite having mostly plastic housing. The lens has a normal lens cap that screws off and on which is nice because you don't have to worry about it popping off by mistake. You can use threaded filters with the lens when the cap is screwed off. There is also a little lens cap that pinches on & off of the main lens cap that allows you to sort of shoot through a small hole in the main lens cap (discussed below). I have used this lens in the rain and it has gotten very wet without breaking. I have this lens with me every single day while I travel and it has been knocking around in my bag for months now and it is solid no nicks or anything. The lens comes with a hardshell carrying case the zippers closed so the lens can be thrown anywhere in that case and it won't break.I keep this lens on unless I am shooting an assignment or something. It is perfect for everyday shooting. You can always just switch your Sony to "APS-C on" in the camera menu and then it becomes 50mm f2.8 if you need the reach or want something more flattering for portraits. The cropped sensor image is still good enough for most anything so in that sense this cheap little lens is a perfect double-duty 35mm & 50mm lens.Image quality is great. You won't get the insanely shallow DOF you would get with an f1.4 but throwing the background out of focus is boring and lazy photography anyway. You want something discreet for street photography than this is it. It even has this little lens cap you can take off of the bigger lens cap and then you can shoot very quickly through a hole in the cap-it is very discreet (the Sony shutters aren't very discreet but that's not this lens' fault).Autofocus is just as fast as my Sony 50mm f1.8 and 85mm f1.8 accept in extremely low light situations. In most normal lighting situations the f2.8 is wide enough for the lens to autofocus quickly without any issues. I use this lens for street photography in NYC and I take a lot of photos at night and in poorly lit subway stations and I never had an issue with the autofocus.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS LENS. If you want a great pancake lens for street work or for everyday use then this thing is the bees' knees.

Nice and compact.
Nice and compact. Image quality is excellent. Autofocus is not that fast but not lagging. Sharpness is descent at 2.8 which gets better as you stop down. I primarily use this for travel and small events. Why would you buy a sony lens for double the amount when you get the same result with this lens.

GREAT LENS!!!
I have used this and the Zeiss 35mm f2.8 so little difference when it comes to images, almost negligible. However the only downside is that the motor is pretty loud in studio/indoor settings and almost unusable on videos even with a shotgun mic. Returned it as I did not enjoy using Sony Mirrorless as much as Fujifilm but then again Sony is for the brain, and Fujifilm is for the heart!

Tiene buen tamaño (es pequeño) pero hace mucho ruido al enfocar y aun enfocado sigue haciendo ruido, casi no pesa
