You definitely need to use an ultra fine point sharpie to fill in. Looks good on the ball.

My Husband Loves It!
This item arrived promptly & was super easy to use. The trick to nice ball markings is finding an ultra fine point Sharpee or other ultra fine permanent marker.

Even permanent Sharpies aren't permanent
Marking my golf ball with this works terrific - use a fine point indelible marker - but when you lift the stencil cup off the ball, lift straight up to prevent smearing the still-wet ink. Also, after playing 9 or so holes, the ball mark starts to really smudge and get worn off badly. So, even permanent markers are not as permanent as the manufacturer's markings on the ball.
