Which game is easier for a first grader?

That depends on your child. The Candy version is adding to 20 with numbers like 12+8=20 and 17+3=20. First graders may find that difficult. The original money version is adding to 100 but with multiples of 5, so 25+75 or 30+70 so often kids find it easier (if they understand the concept of double digit addition). If that's still too hard teachers tend to take out cards and start with just the multiples of 10 like 30+70 and 40+60. When kids get comfortable with that they put in the multiples of 5. Then they move onto the Candy version for kids to get comfortable with adding all numbers. It's great that you ask because the most important thing is for the child to enjoy it! Try to start with what's comfortable but has them thinking and build from there.

Does this have all of the permutations that add to 20 or only some?

No. It has the most challenging permutations, namely, 3+17, 4+16, 5+15, 6+14, 7+13, 8+12 and 10+10.

Can you play with just two people?

This grandmom could play a modified version of the game, but it is meant for 3-6 players.

Is a 10 year old too old for this game?

Not at all! The game is fun for kids and adults. Kids should be familiar with adding 2 numbers to 20. (3+17, 12+8, etc.) Believe it or not some teenagers admit they're challenged by this.
