Nice!
I’ve been feeding a squirrel for the last few months. I started thinking she might like a place out of the coming cold weather to hide out. I haven’t seen her use it yet, but the weather is still nice. The house itself looks nice, seems sturdy. It was easy to hang up. They included hanging instructions, screws, and tips with it. We’ll see if little Buffy eventually uses it. 🙂

I like it, but…
Its been up for two weeks and the squirrels haven’t yet adopted it. It is quit high in a tree behind the garage where they are safe and out of the way of people or animals. There are quite a few squirrels around so keeping my fingers crossed. The size, construction and ease of installation are great.

Perfect for rehab transition
Daisy lives inside my house until spring. Teaching her to forage and store food was our first step, but I worry about her being in a safe home... I can't teach her to build a squirrel nest. I placed this house on top of a dresser next to the towel she has slept in since she came to me. Two days later she tried to drag the towel into the box! It was too large, so I cut it in to a smaller piece and she now sleeps there every night from sun down to sun rise. The next step will be introducing a better bedding for when I move the house outside as weather begins to warm.

Raccoons can access this, get a guard!!!!
DO NOT BUY if you have raccoons. The shelf inside for predator guard is too short and needs to be double the length it is. Or buy and put a predator guard on the outside. Preferably a wire mesh awning-like or cage over the hole. I thought the shelf would be enough, it wasn't and they got my baby squirrels. I'm traumatized now at the thought of what they went through. Overall the box was made well. I think it would be good to put wire mesh over one hole, buy a second of the same box and drill holes in the lids and put them on top of each other. They could go in one hole and then down to the bottom where it's safer to sleep, where the hole is closed with metal mesh screen or wood over it and raccoons couldn't get them. Or extend that shelf. It came already assembled.
