Nice
Makes a nice beer. Amazes me how much sugar is in the malt. I'm planning on trying to make some Scotch style whiskey from it too. Good price compared to others. Try it!

ordered this as it seemed like a deal
I did a search for "Malt Extract" and not reading too deeply into the product description, ordered this as it seemed like a deal. Well, when it arrived, I found that is was Malted Barley, which is not what I wanted. Still, I was planning on using it all for brewing beer, so rather than send it back, I bought a cheap thermometer, barley grist-mill, and a nylon sack, and learned how to brew gallon batches from grain instead of extracts.I've found the difference in beer quality that I get from all-grain rather than extracts is well worth the extra couple of steps. I hadn't planned on jumping into an all-grain process, but now that I have, I see no reason to go back. Also, if you like the idea of just making gallon batches, I've found that using a toaster-oven, I can toast up a half-pound of grain prior to grinding, to alter the color and flavor of my brews quite a bit, all from the same 50lb bag of grain.Of course, in the future, I'll probably be purchasing the next 50lb bag from a brewer or specialty store, as the price for this first bag was a bit more than I'd like to pay for grain.

Arrived dry and ready to use.
Base malt, heavy bag, shipping box was damaged but the malt bag was intact, dry, in perfect condition and ready to make beer!

Not my go to but a fine domestic 2 row.
When I started Brewing many years ago I could get a 50 pound bag of grain for around $25.00!I just kegged my first batch with this recent order. My efficiency was where it usually is and the malt profile is on par with my recipe. Converted quickly at around 20 minutes so the diastatic power is terrific. Color is a little low but that's fine. Hopefully my local guy can get some Rahr in soon, not much difference in quality, or flavor/malt profile but at 55 pounds vs 50 it's a better value for the price. Appreciate the expedited shipping! Chhers!

Great product! Purchasing this bag was my first attempt ...
Great product! Purchasing this bag was my first attempt at an all grain brew. Yes, there are a couple more steps. Yes, there will be a couple more tools (10 gal pot, filter sacks, small grinder, and thermometer). But you will love the final product! It also feels very rewarding making a beer the same way as a professional establishment. My first 3 brews turned out perfect (about 16.6 lbs. grain to a 5.5 gal fermentation yields a 10% ABV for me). I like the hoppy ales with a slight citrus flavor and a high ABV (triple IPA). Also, your costs will be around 75 cents a pint! Try to beat that at your local pub. Warning! When you start making lots of great beer, you will find yourself with many more friends coming over. Time to order another bag...

It works very well.
A great product to use as a base in most homemade beers. Or at least that's what I used it for.It could also be used in other projects, such as some wine recipe's or whiskey ( If you have a still).

Consistent results
I'm on second 50-lbs sack of Briess grains. I've done several batches of home brews - from IPAs to Belgian clones - and I've have great results. Flavor, aroma, brewhouse efficiency, all good as expected. By buying them in bulk, I beat the retail price of my local home brew store, and most importantly, I have the convenience of having them ready anytime I find time to brew. I hope they keep selling on Amazon.
