Anchor Hocking Company 86148 10" Presence Egg Plate

Purchased for use as oyster platter, small even for medium deviled eggs.

This is a beautiful, VERY heavy plate for deviled eggs. It is quite sturdy, and will hold up well for being transported to a picnic or church meeting, or wherever you're going. Also pretty enough to use at home. It holds 12 deviled egg halves, and has an area in the center for other things. (Use your creativity here.) Perfect for a buffet. I bought two of these from different vendors, and they were EXACTLY the same, which I like very much. Absolutely no variation in quality. I put olives (an assortment from the Whole Foods olive bar) and sometimes Cornichons (baby sweet pickles) in that center space, along with a holder full of those cute fringed toothpicks nearby, so people can use a pick to select their favorites. You do need to put something in the center, though. Otherwise it looks kind of empty. BTW, a shot glass works well as a toothpick holder, --- I have a few antique etched glass ones that I've picked up over the years, and I've used them with great success. There are lots of wonderful recipes for deviled eggs on the internet. I particularly like the Rachel Ray recipe for Caesar Salad Stuffed Eggs. You can get it on her website. Otherwise, mashed egg yolks, a little mayo and a bit of Dijon mustard and some chopped capers will do it for me, with some paprika and tiny slices of chopped fine chives sprinkled over the yolks. A beautiful, delicious bite sure to please.

I bought this plate before Easter with the intention of filling the 12 spaces with eggs that my son decorated. It was the perfect size for a dozen large size eggs. It was nice to have a beautiful plate to display his colourful creations on our table for the holiday

It’s nice looking, has a nice weight to it, feels sturdy like it will survive many a pot luck trips. Holds deviled eggs well. Love my purchase.
