Worked well. I know I should have red direction thoroughly, but having blue wire be ground and black wire be sensor is very non-standard. I thought it was DOA, but I did go back and double check directions, rewired, and it works.

I installed the transducer/sending unit on my boat gas tank, which was made in 1972 and the five bolt pattern does match up! Took a bit of rotating as the bolt pattern is not symmetric. I bought the 6.8” transducer as my tank is 7.5” tall. The wiring instructions/schematic was detailed enough to easily wire the unit. I’ve got a newer motor and ignition set up so I was able to wire directly to the ignition stud of the newer tachometer. The included gas gauge fit perfect in my old gas gauge cut out. I turned on the ignition and the gauge booted up with a needle sweep and then slowly climbed up to the actual fuel depth in my tank, which I feel is accurate. The back light is nice and bright and the variety of backlighting colors is more of a novelty and I think my kids will get a kick out of it! Happy so far with the set up, but we’ll see how solid this set up is when I get it out on the big water of Lake Michigan. Will update this review if necessary. Very good product so far at that price point.

This is a great kit to add a real fuel gauge to your fuel tank. For me it was a huge upgrade for my lawn tractor which only had a rather worthless "sight window" which is just about impossible to use unless you had bright light on the back of the fuel tank and the fuel was within the visible window. The sender unit appears to be solid and of good quality with a sturdy mounting flange, I ordered the 4 inch version in a kit with the gauge which was the best option for my application. The gauge meter unit itself has bold graphics for easy no nonsense readability, the multi color backlight options are a great way to customize to suit your application and do a great job at night. I wired the backlight to the tractor headlight circuit so it comes on with the headlights - a nice touch but not necessary, you can of course wire it up to stay on all the time if you prefer. My kit did not come with the connector sealing plug as shown though. For those reviewers of this kit that complain of the gauge showing Full all the time - this fuel gauge meter is programmable for different types of senders, it might be worth making sure it is configured for the right sender. For me the default settings were correct. Overall, I very much like this kit, it is a little pricey, but if it lasts the life of my lawn tractor, it will be worth it, we'll see. Please not that I took extra care to prepare the nylon fuel tank surface to seal perfectly against the sender unit with the limited torque available from screws in nylon (I purchased special deep thread screws and did not use the machine screws provided), typically such nylon tanks are not perfectly flat nor is the surface texture conducive to a good seal even with the good quality gasket provided. This is less of an issue with metal fuel tanks. Think Safety. If in doubt, use a threaded split ring backer inside the tank. UPDATE: Nov 2025: This kit is still going strong and a valued upgrade to my tractor. I have noticed however that the Gauge Dial Glass does fog up with condensation so this is definitely NOT waterproof and would be a disaster on marine installations - so make sure you receive and use the connector seal, as my kit did not come with one and it is clearly a critical item.

Works fantastic. I use it on a 73 vw beatle. So far seems to be working well. Only thing i would like is that the guage would be pre set for the fuel float instead of trying to figure out how to set it. Also that the wires would have female connectors instead of having to extend the wire by crimps. Other than that, easy install

I purchased this fuel gauge for my VW rail buggy. I had tried several different brands and types of gauges, but none of them worked as they should have. This gauge is by far the best one I have used. The gauge is nice, and heavy duty. It goes through a start-up check to make sure it is reading correctly. If I were to have any complaints, it would only be how the gauge readings change so quickly with the movement of the fuel in the tank. If you want to get a proper reading, it is best to be sitting flat and not moving. Otherwise, this is a great deal!!

Stopped working after installing underneath my van for the secondary gasoline tank. When I first tested it, it was working fine, after installing it also worked just fine. But after driving the van once, the sender stopped working. The gauge appears as empty, even though the tank is not empty. Now I’ll have to change the unit, unfortunately it is very hard to access the sender to remove it.

Very high quality but be sure to verify gasket hole pattern matches gas tank and you order correct tank depth, which is not adjustable.
