Fantastic series
I LOVED watching Lonesome Dove when it aired. My husband never saw it! Now we can watch it together AND the prequel and sequel. It made an awesome Christmas gift along with a new pair of cowboy boots and his first Stetson!

Bought as a gift
Because these are some of my favorite movies. We don’t own the entire set so it’s going on my wishlist for myself. I assume the discs and packaging were fine. I wasn’t told of any problems.

Great western and different than most.
I liked the top named actors in the movie that all played good parts and has a good story from start to finish.

Disc number one and three does not work.
I bought this and "Yellowstone" movies for my wife. After watching the "Yellowstone" movies, we started to watch this "Lonesome Dove" movie. The first and third discs did not work; my wife is watching number four but don't if the remainder will work.Amazon's return policy states that is too late to return, so I will know NOT to purchase something like this again, unless they will replace my purchase.I have submitted a review before several months ago but it appears that you just want positive reviews, but that is not always the case.I would like a refund. After looking at all 16 discs, 8 would not load. I contacted customer service w/chat. After waiting 28 minutes I asked for a customer associate. I waited 33 more minutes and just gave up, for now. I have to add that since May 2018 I have placed 333 orders, yesterday was my latest, and this is only the second one that I have an issue with.

awesome!
Usually anything with Robert Duvall is outstanding and this series does not disappoint! Thank you for allowing me to share my thoughts.

Good picture transfer to blu ray.
I had been waiting a long time to get my hands on the complete set of Lonesome Dove and boy was it worth the wait! Its all here in glorious blu ray format. Lonesome Dove, Return To Lonesome Dove, Streets Of Laredo (hard to find on blu ray alone), Comanche Moon and Dead Mans Walk all well presented in high definition. The very odd time the transfer is a tad blurry - especially any slow motion scenes - but to have every series complete is a delight. This set is region free, so should play everywhere! I'm in Ireland so my only gripe is the high import charges I had to pay because this set came all the way from New Zealand through Viavision. There are some other box sets by Viavision I need in my collection - but because of the import charges - I'll pick these up sparingly!Honestly this particular boxset was worth every penny!!! 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(€120 for the set and a further €59 in import charges)

A review of the Blu-Ray disc and features
As the title, this is not a review for the content of the series, but for the product itself.I have been waiting to see this series come to blu-ray for 10+ years. Despite it being readily available in the US for a long time, the region B (or in this instance, Multi Region) version has only just now come to our shores.I was jubilant to see it, and naturally snapped it up right away. The bad news, the reason this is a 3 star review is this: there are not enough accessibility options on a collection that costs a penny shy of £90. As someone who shares programmes with a family member who is almost entirely deaf, subtitles are a must. This edition does include subtitles (English only... fine for me, but again, for the price of this Ultimate boxset, you'd expect more than one language). However, the subtitles are not without problem. By far the worst thing is that the subtitles offer an approximation of what is being said. It is not word-for-word. As a professional subtitler, I know how sloppy this is. There is absolutely no reason not to put exactly what is said onto the screen, aside from budget or sheer laziness. Secondly, all the subtitles appear over different parts of the screen in the production's attempt to make it clear who is speaking. Usually on discs there is an option for either this or something more akin to usual subtitles, i.e. uniformly along the bottom. I personally prefer this, as I find it fatiguing to keep searching the screen for the next subtitle. Sometimes the subtitle is over the wrong side of the screen from the person talking, as well. So, overall I'm glad to see that this is now available to view on an HD television, and the transfer looks good enough, but I'm really disappointed about the above mentioned issues. If this had cost £20 perhaps I wouldn't grumble. But we're talking nearly £100 for an 'Ultimate' collection box set, and the quality just needs to be higher.
