Overheats in the sun
I really wanted to like this product. It was exactly what I’ve been looking for in a backpacking solar charger. Compact, lightweight, simple to use. I was willing to pay the high price to meet all my requirements. However, the Solar Paper just didn’t fit the bill. The panels were simple to connect and the magnetic connectors are a genius idea. I setup the system and placed it in the sun to see how long it would take to charge my iPod. After 10 minutes i looked and (in full sun) i felt it was going slowly, but understand with anything there are limitations. Progress was being made so i was patient. 10 minutes later i checked and the LCD display (very small and difficult to see) was completely black and all charging had stopped. My only conclusion is that the system overheated. The next day, everything seemed ok so i reassembled the charger and tried again. After 10 minutes everything was black and not charging. So, a solar charger that tends to overheat in the sun seems like a serious design flaw to me. I hope a system like this is developed someday. Until then, i suppose I’ll have to settle for larger, bulkier options to charge my batteries in the backcountry!

Works well with some adjustments.
The product is durable and very lightweight. It did not charge my phone well. The power flow fluctuates and can even drain my phone's charge (especially where the shade is shifting in the westering sun). I learned to charge a small battery pack (like my Bluetooth earphones and battery pack, which I carry with me anyhow) and then plug my phone into the battery. Worked great. I have my solar paper hanging from my pack and charging my battery while I hike and take pictures with my phone. Then I can charge at night. I like it. It's so handy to carry with me.

Outperforms the specification!!
I received this as a Father's Day gift. It is so unique is this day and age to promise less and deliver more. That's exactly what Yolk has done. I live in Sothern California so there is no lack of sun. Always use the included silicon hinges they add no real weight and keep the panels together quite well. In good sun it charged my iPhone in less than 3 hours, it has a great auto restart feature that doesn't interrupt the charge. Extra panels are available to increase the voltage. This maybe the lightest most efficient panels I own.

Work's but finicky and instructions are unclear.
I've had this for few years, but I rarely use it. You have to arrange the panels in the proper sequence to get the max and correct current. In full sunlight I can get almost a full A.

Solar Paper by Yolk does not work.
I was one of the Kickstarter backers of Solar Paper. The product stinks. Even in full sunlight, my iPhone 5s DISCHARGES when plugged into a 4-panel Solar Paper. Do not buy.

Nice
This thing is so thin and portable. I took it outside and it did indeed charge my iPhone 11. The amp meter also helps you put the panel were sun is the strongest.

First off, let me be clear this product works very well and is clearly of quality manufacture. I think the basic concept and design of the Yolk Solar Charger is simply Brilliant !!! I was able to charge my phone up in direct, late Afternoon Sunshine, from less than 73% to 100 % fully charged in 1 hour ! I haven't had a chance to extensively test it, which I will do and make a full review and evaluation on Youtube as soon as possible. I also plugged in a 10,400 milliamp USB battery which was about 1/3rd discharged and to my delight charged up full in even less than 1 hour (about 50 minutes). I ordered another extra panel to add to the six panels the standard 15 Watt kit comes with to make 7 x 2.5 Watt panels, and this gives me a total of 17.5 Watts instead. YOLK informed me the charger unit on the top of the main solar panel could indeed handle the extra wattage and current. I was getting 6.8 Volts DC @ 3.76 Amps total into the charger, which I think regulates everything down to 5Volts DC @ 2.1 Amps (Standard USB Maximum Output spec). Thus far, I would have to say it is a very capable charging setup. However; I think the total cost to me to get it in the door was way too high ! I paid roughly $639.00 CAD, with the extra panel @ $101.50 CAD alone !! There is allot of 24 Carat Gold wires and what looks like 24 Carat Gold plating on the magnetic hinge conectors on each panel, which might speak to that kinda pricing ? Total shipping nightmare !!!: This company really dropped the ball on the shipping out of the product to me. I ordered it on September 25th, 2019 and received it on October 10th, 2019 !!! That is simply too long. I paid for expedited shipping on Amazon Canada, and did not ask or expect the product to be shipped out to me via UPS C.O.D. extra charges to the tune of $187.35 CAD, which I refused to pay !!! It did not list where the product was being shipped from on Amazon Canada. Eventually, YOLK agreed to pay the extra shipping charges from UPS to our location in Western Canada. To be honest this purchasing experience was ruined for me by the shipping nightmare.

Very disappointed. The magnets DO NOT hold these things together whatsoever... that is a total joke and the ties provided for the added security of holding the panels together are so fiddly andnot secure that the panels you just “secured” come apart while you are trying to secure another panel. Definitely forget about having this hung on the outside of a backpack while hiking. The panels themselves if just laid flat in the sun on a picnic table or something should work decent if plugged into a bettery pack i think but i had my iphone plugged directly in and it actually drained my battery more than it charged it! Everytime acloud came over it stopped charging and then restarted charging and it is like that restart ate a chunk of battery every time. There are better solar panels put there at better prices. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.
