Best phone on the market with a headphone jack and SD memory card slot
I upgraded from a Sony Xperia 1 III to Sony Xperia 1 IV +headphone jack (important for me) +can add external memory (important for me) +fits well in the hand +stereo speakers are quite good (improved even more from the 1 III, it’s louder and more base) +awesome screen, everything is smooth and nice to look at +much brighter screen from 1 III +the tactile feel/vibration when typing is nice (slight improvement from 1 III) +really fast doing anything really, the phone is speedy +double tap the screen to turn on +front facing camera is good, ultra-fast taking pics (shoots a more natural look), nights could still be improved. +selfie camera improved from 1 III +camera button on the side +bigger battery from 1 III makes the phone run for longer +power saver mode works quite well, didn't notice a performance hit in normal use. +5g works really well/fast +has a quality premium feel +for some apps, it allows you to customise what alert they sent eg. only alert for posts, but not general alerts, very handy. +Battery care option is quite good +While the phone does heat up with usage, after the latest firmware update, it’s gotten cooler than before even when fast charging +/- Default gallery is 'Google Photos, however it's only useful if you pay an annual charge, so found 'Simple Gallery Pro' for a once off price £0.79 which is quite good. +/- Had to get Nova Launcher to help organise my apps section. Odd that by default it doesn't let you group/hide apps +/- has a notification light (for messages etc), but a bit weak -when charging it doesn't say approx time left for charge, only % -Randomly turns on (to lock screen) like you touched the phone every so often, even though there are no messages. (this has continued from S III) -the fingerprint scanner is a hit and miss. -camera app sometimes hangs/crashes if you are constantly opening and closing it when out and about taking pictures -seems to unlock randomly in the pocket when it should be locked. -no phone charger I understand why, still for a premium product and price I would have expected it. Overall very happy with the phone.

Best of Sony and Android
Took the jump from Apple to Sony and I'm glad I did. Came from an iPhone xs and this new Xperia just does everything much better. Camera is great, especially the 24mm. There's very little noise in the images and video quality is very very good. The camera works like the Sony Alpha systems and you can control pretty much every setting. Only the 120mm setting gets a bit fuzzy in quality. You can shoot in raw and jpeg and images are very accurate and not oversaturated or overly sharp but just right. 4k 120hz screen is superp and brighter than my iPhone and battery life is good also. there are some good creative settings for both display and speakers, which sound very good for a phone. You will quickly get used to Android and I feel there are more settings to play with than in iOS. You can pretty much change everything in settings and generally you can tweak everything a bit more to your liking than in iOS. Offer came with the headphones which makes it a good deal. They are very good and battery last forever! Without them the price is in line with Apple and Samsung's most expensive phones. If you're tired of Samsung's bloatware get this phone instead it's mainly got the things you want and is free of the nonsense apps. Only dislike is it doesn't come with a charger. Seems normal these days with both Apple and Samsung.

Faulty. Had to return.
Bought this to replace 4yr old Xperia XZ3 which was a great phone until the camera failed. I didn't like the fingerprint sensor on the side. My XZ3 was on reverse and naturally landed on my finger when I held it. Also the 21:9 aspect ratio of the screen is a bit of a stretch, pardon the pun. Not many apps use that layout. Not an issue because after 4 hours of use, 1. 5 of which was spent updating to latest software, the screen froze. The phone was completely unusable and had to go back. I subsequently ordered a different brand. Shame because I've had 5 Xperia phones over the last decade.

Overheating?
Well had this phone for just over a week now,was very close to sending it back because of the well documented overheating in the pro video and camera apps. First of all the screen is excellent with Sony's well renowned x reality and creator modes plus the fantastic oled 4K screen probably the best realistic colours you can get on a phone screen at this time, and they've improved the screen brightness 50% so when outside in sunshine you can easily see the screen, which was lacking with the Xperia 1ii I upgraded from. Sound I always complained that the sound didn't have a high enough volume but,its louder with this model and a lot more detailed with 360 reality, probably yet again the best sound coming out of a mobile at present loudness isn't everything. Playing music through this phone into Sony's WH-1000XM4 headphones is the best there is,wow what detailed sound they play. The Snapdragon chipset in this phone makes it super quick, and loads in an instant the fastest I've seen, and a delight while web browsing. Now this is where the problem started when using the pro video app, we've had some hot days in the UK the last 30c+. I'd heard about the problems of overheating and some people sending the phone back because of it but, I thought I'd persevere with the phone just because I liked it that much, I didn't want to get rid of it. So I trialed some video lengths, and how long would it go before heating problems. The I started it was 31c so a hot day, and after 5 minutes on the pro video app shooting in 4K the heat warning came on,and after 14 minutes the phone shut down altogether, not good. I'd read if you downloaded a third party camera, video app it got rid of this problem?so I did, and ran a 4K video on the same day with 30c+,and low and behold it was vidioed for 30 minutes without any heat warnings or problems. I contacted Sony but, all they said was the device will get hot and its designed to cope with this and was the new Snapdragon chipset which causes the heating, and not to worry it will keep going,oh no it won't,i said, that was the response from them🤬. I know using this phone as Sony sell it as,that's a pro level video camera phone and applying a third party camera, video app defeats the object of using all the controls that the pro level camera, video app that Sony gives you but,it is a work around until a software update comes and rectifies this problem. Update yesterday there was a software update but Sony hasn't said it was for this but I tried the video pro app today not as hot but, still 27c and it played a 4K video for 27minutes before the heat warning came on,played till 30 minutes still working ok until I stopped it,so hopefully it will get better with future updates, and of course the weather cooling. All in all I love this phone and how it works, and I'm keeping it.

Amazing Screen with Headphone Support
Love the new bright OLED screen. Compares really well with the other screens in the market. I love how the movies occupy the full screen with no black bars. I own the Pixel 7 Pro as well as my work phone and I find scrolling on this much more appealing. I love how the pictures come out in daylight, the quality is second to none. The autofocus system in insanely precise and it better be with the underlying alpha camera tech. The low light photography might need a stand and isn't something I prefer. I use the pixel 7 pro for low light shots. The audio via the headphone jack is decent. I prefer having it as an option and can continue to use my high end audiophile grade headphones. One of the key reasons for me to buying this and not the Fold 4. The interface otherwise is quite clean and simple with minimal bloatware. Highly recommended!!

Solid phone for the budding creative professional
The phone is expensive. But if you can afford it or get it on sale it's absolutely worth it. Very fast, good battery life considering the specs, and exceptional camera applications. Video pro in particular is awesome - it unlocks the full potential of the hardware and the quality of the footage is remarkable. 4k HDR at 120fps looks incredible. And being able to shoot in burst with HDR in photography pro is a welcome addition too. If you own an alpha camera it pairs nicely too as an external monitor.

It's good but overheats
I use this mainly for videos and the camera is actually very good. The HDR 4K videos are stunning, crystal clear with an excellent dynamic range. The big downside is overheating. After 5mins of filming the phone will be very hot, even in airplane mode, WiFi off and at lowest brightness. I have to keep a small USB fan around to cool the phone down quickly, no joke...

Nice phone, feels good in the hand
Nice phone, feels good in your hand, lovely screen, the sound seems to be good, the finger print scanner seems a little bit hit and miss, some times you unlock it only to instantly lock it again, maybe I didn't do a good job of saving my finger print in the first place? Edited* I finally deleted my finger print and re did it and it now works fine, so it was totally my fault or android 13 is better at it, but most likely it was me ☺️lol
