Cool concept, but not practical
If you really like one of the 5 or so games listed on their site that work well with this then buy it. Otherwise don't. The quality of the product and usability of the joystick are very good. The resistance is consistent around all parts of the joystick. BUT: The main problem is that the joystick moves out of place. If you place the joysticks in the perfect location, ten minutes later they will have moved moderately, and 20 minutes later you will have to readjust them because the game wil become unplayable. BOTTOM LINE: For the games that are perfect for this joystick, it works really well. For a vast majority of games, it sucks because it covers up other controls like in Galaxy on Fire 2 and it doesn't even work with Deadspace. Definitely a cool concept and fun to try out and use, but personally none of my ipad's 30 games are a "perfect" games for this device.

could be better
so i bought this for my ipad 2 becuase i admit that i was having a hard time playing games with the touch screen, especially game such as dead space, madden, anything that required me to move players with my left thumb. after a couple of uses, i realized that the controller doesn't really stay in one place during gameplay. i had to constantly pause the game and reposition the controller. it has a pretty good suction cup, but it doesn't do it justice during actual gameplay. otherwise, it's unobtrusive and small packaging. i like the feel of the controller and that it centers by itself. it works, i can the use the controller for movement.

Fun, but not universal.
Been thinking about picking one of these up for giggles for a while. While the fling definitely works well, and seems to be reasonably well made (even comes with a nice little carry pouch), it seems to be fair fairly limited use product. It works great on some games, and not great at all on others. It's a trial and error experience, and the stick itself seems very stiff to use. I get tired of fighting it on most games and pop it off. Fun little thing though to mess with, it does do a great job with first person games, and inexpensive.

Worked great... until it broke
I enjoyed using the Fling controller on my iPad 2 and noticed a nice difference in my skill level on the games it was compatible with. Your thumbs stay in the game a lot longer because they don't get sore from sliding on the glass (especially when you're pressing hard for an intense game!), and you won't accidentally move your thumbs out of the joystick control area, which is a major disadvantage to touchscreen games in my opinion. It seemed to work really well with most games that had a D-pad or virtual joystick. However, if the controller is mostly pointed in one direction (e.g. always pointed to the right for a side scrolling game), expect it to slide some and you'll have to adjust it every few minutes, which can be a hassle. The problem is I've only had it for about 2 months, and I didn't actually use it that often, but it broke tonight. The arm with the suction cup attached just snapped off, which I was very surprised by because I don't even put much pressure on the plastic arm when removing it. I hold down one side of the suction cup while I peel the other side like I'm opening a can of soda. I'm a bit disappointed with the quality of materials because it should have lasted for much longer than it did and I didn't see any kind of warranty information on or in the packaging. I checked their website and it says on the description for the Fling, "It's nearly indestructible, and will give you years of precision gaming."I'll be contacting Ten One Design to see if there's anything they can do, so I'll post an update regarding their customer service. All in all, I would like to keep using it because it really does improve gaming on the iPad, but I'm not going to spend more money to have another one break in 2 months.UPDATE 10/28/11Ok, so it appears I may have received a factory defective unit. I contacted their customer service department and I got an extremely nice, very fast response. I'm pleased to say they have great customer service. Although there was no written warranty anywhere, I was told that the product fell under their defective product warranty and I was promptly shipped a new one via first class mail. I got it today (wow!) and I couldn't be happier with it. I'm back in the game! The replacement looks the same, but it came in different, newer looking packaging. It's possible the one I got here on Amazon was an older model with lower quality materials, or had a factory defect, or maybe I wasn't handling it as carefully as I thought. Either way, it really is a fantastic addition to gaming on the iPad... I'm terrible at Death Rally without it.

Not worth it even for FREE
First, I'm a Prime member. The item was to be here in 2 days. It didn't arrive on time. I didn't panic. Stuff happens.I tracked the package. It had been shipped to the wrong RDC by UPS. Two weeks later I checked on it again. It was still not moving. Finally a month later I asked for a refund. I received a refund no problem. Then it arrived one month later (2 days became 2 months). I had asked for a refund and I was refunded, yet the item came anyway. So I tried it. At this point it's free right? It's awful for my Kindle Fire. It just isn't usable for me. I play Asphalt 7 and some other games like that. Not even for free is it worth getting. I'm giving it away to my son. Perhaps it will work for him.

Nearly, but not quite fit for purpose
In principle, this should be a good item and do the job. But after about half an hour's use, the contact pad came unstuck and as previous reviewer "Not fit for Purpose" states, smeared glue on my screen. A better glue may do. The controller works by sliding the central contact point in the direction required, against the spiral spring of clear plastic, which re-centres the contact point in the central, "neutral" position, when no vector force is applied. However, using my thumb to control the button took relatively quite a lot of strength, and I could foresee tiredness quickly occurring, and possible repetitive strain injury with prolonged or professional use. The spring's strength should be weakened by reducing the amount of plastic, or by some other means; which would also make it more fragile. I am not sure how other users manage to use it long term. Perhaps recent examples have been modified inappropriately. I shall return the item to Amazon, along with the aluminium joystick which I have just tried too unsuccessfully. Game on trial was World of Tanks Blitz on an IPad Air 2.

Very impressive design and great controller
I wasn't sure how good this would be but I'm very impressed. It's more sturdy than looks in the photos and does an excellent job as a controller. I played it with Fifa 12/13 mostly and its strong enough to handle the quick movement and control.A very clever piece of engineering at work here, someone needs a good pat on the back.I'd recommend it for anyone playing tablet games as it is durable and easy on the thumb.

Joystick on the iPad, Wahoo
What a great little piece of kit, I use loads, once stuck onto the iPad, it just stays there, no sliding around, and works with most virtual joystick gamesTen One Design, also ship this is a nice little bag, which can be used to clean the screen of the iPadThis is a great step in the right direction until a fully compatible bluetooth device hits the market

Not great
Maybe it was just the one I recieved that was faulty or maybe I just didn't understand it but I could not get one of the suckers to stick to the (clean) screen and the controller kept slipping off. While it was in place it worked well (GTA 3) but not for long. Returned.

Great controller
We bought this and the little aluminum (more joystick-y) ones. The aluminum ones are good for when you want to grip the controller, but this works great for games where one thumb, recentering, control is helpful.
