Good VALUE System.
I really like this mic more than I thought I would, due to the mixed reviews. It really works well and is as good quality as my 20' wired Lav Mic and is way more conveniant. The fartherest I've tried it is about 20' and it works fine. I am doing how to and product videos with it and my camera zoom doesn't pick up the detail I want past that, so I typically won't be using it all that far away. I do like that I have both hands free to use the product or work. (Don't you just hate those videos that someone tries to do with one hand and trying to make something work with the other hand). From the many reviews I've read on this system, the QC is spoty, but I got a good one. The build is pretty rugged and the sound quality is good for a wireless system under $20. Under $15, in fact. Will it match a $200+ system? Of course not. ITS A CHEAP UNIT PEOPLE. But for the money, it does what it is designed to do and does it well. Long story short, it's cheap and it works. Don't buy a Focus and expect a BMW.

THE WIRELESS LAV MIC FROM HELL! THIS PIECE OF PYLE IS A PILE OF SH...ASTAKOVICHE'S DIRTY SOCKS & UNDERWEAR!
YES THE WIRELESS WORKS & ITS CHEAP, BUT IS IT ANY GOOD? THE RECEIVER CASE 1/4" PLUG IS SO LOOSE AND WOBBLY THAT IT IS UNUSABLE!. THE RECEIVER PLUG WHERE ITS ATTATCHED TO THE CASE, IS SO LOOSE THAT WHEN I PULLED THE RECEIVER OUT OF THE MIXER JACK, THE PLUG ALMOST PULLED OUT OF THE CASE! WHAT'S THE MATTER PYLE, CAN'T AFFORD SOME HOT MELT GLUE???? ORDINARILY, I WOULD FIX IT MYSELF WHILE CURSING PYLE UNDER MY BREATH F 4 A BUNCH OF CHEAP-AZZ SOB'S. THE TRANSMITTER CASE IS INCREDIBLY MICROPHONIC! THE LAV MIC CABLE IS VERY VERY NOISEY SO IS THE JOINT OF THE CABLE & THE MIC BODY,. SO IS TH BASE OF THE MIC BODY! BUT WHAT ABOUT THE MIC? IS IT NOISEY & SCRATCHY, AND A SOURCE OF INCREDIBLE HANDLING NOISE LIKE EVERY OTHER PART OF THE SYSTEM? ABSOLUTELY NOT, IT DOES NOT PRODUCE ANY OF ALL THOSE HORRIBLE NASTY NOISES THAT EVERY OTHER PART OF THE TRANSMITTER DOES. WHAT DO YOU THINK IT DOES? DO YOU THINK IT MAKES HORRIBLE NASTY DISTORTED SOUNDS? CAN YOU GUESS WHAT IT DOES?? IT DOES NOTHING! IT DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. NO SCRATCHY, HORRID HANDLING NOISE AT ALL! IT MAKES NO NOISE @ ALL. IT DOES NOTHING. EACH AND EVERY PART OF THE TRANSMITTER THAT SHOULD BE NOISELESS MAKES HORRID NASTY SCRATCHY AWFUL MICROPHONIC AND/OR HANDLING NOISES. OF COURSE, THE MICROPHONE MAKES NO NOISE @ ALL. NOTHING. THE LAV MIKE CAPSULE IS DEAD, ITS DOA. BUT WAIT!!! THERE'S MORE!!! THE VOLUME KNOB, JUST PAST THE TURN ON CLICK, HAS A BAD SCRATCHY SPOT. THE WORST POSSIBLE PLACE FOR A BAD SPOT IN A VOLUME POT TO BE. SO I SAY TO MYSELF, JUST RUN IT BACK N FORTH A FEW TIMES & IT WILL WEAR IN. WRONG AGAIN. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I RAN IT BACK N FORTH THE SCRATCH WILL NOT GO AWAY! PYLE, HOW CAN U PUT SUCH A PILE OF HOT MESS IN A BOX W/YOUR TRADEMARK & BRAND ON IT AND SELL IT TO AN UNWITTING PURCHASER??? I COULD UNDERSTAND A FEW BAD THINGS, A FEW EXAMPLES OF POOR QC GIVEN THE VERY REASONABLE PRICE POINT. I COULD UNDERSTAND 1 OR 2 PROBLEMS I COULD FIX OR LIVE W/GIVEN HOW INEXPENSIVE IT IS. WHAT I CAN'T UNDERSTAND IS HOW U CAN EXPECT ME 2 FORGET THIS EXPERIENCE. I BOUGHT THESE INEXPENSIVE ITEMS 2 TRY OUT YOUR LINE B'COS YOU MAKE HIGHER PRICED ITEMS, THAT MIGHT STILL BE ATTRACTVE IF THEY ARE ANY GOOD. U WASTED MY TIME ON THIS PILE OF. . . . [ WE ALL KNOW WHAT THIS IS A PILE OF DON'T WE? ]

Worth the gamble...
I ordered mine with the intent of greatly improving the quality of recorded audio for video work. My observations thus far are... #1. The device doing the recording has as much, or more, to do with the quality of the sound as the mic. #2. This thing like any other TS mono mic, is painful to adapt to a smart phone for recording. Possible, but painful. Recordings taken using a home brewed 1/4 TS to 3.5mm TRRS adapter were okay. But it is obvious mic gain was set way too high. No gain knob on the phone you know! #3. Plugged into a 1/4" input on my mixer, and gain adjusted properly, this thing is crystal clear, with good tonal reproduction of my somewhat baritone voice. Tested reception up to 50' away through 3 walls and still crystal clear strong audio. The housing and the tiny gauge wire antenna seem particularly cheaply made, but are holding up so far. Don't be a Gorilla with it and I think you are fine. At least that's what I have found so far... Time will tell if it will hold up, but so far it is doing a good job, and at the price tag, it was worth the gamble... *** UPDATE AFTER 3 YEARS OF USE *** I have stopped using this for my Smart Phone videos, and instead am using an SJCam SJ6 Legend camera. I use a USB to 3.5mm camera mic adapter, and a Livewire 3.5mm Male to 1/4" Female adapter to make the connections needed. The receiver is simply velcroed to a tripod leg to keep the weight off the camera's USB port. Audio quality is good, not fantastic, but good. FAR superior to any other Mic rig that I have tested for either Smart Phone, or Action Cam, and that includes a Rode SmartLav for comparison. Mind you, you are NOT going to, or at least shouldn't be using a Lavalier mic for singing. These are designed and built for speech. I am using mine for vlogging, and have taken the OE foam wind protector off, and replaced it with a Foamito dead kitten style wind filter. High winds that would make a normal lav / camera audio unusable, isn't even noticeable. My main drawback with this rig is it is inconvenient to set up and use. So I don't use it as much as I should. I would personally LOVE a rig with the following. #1. Already has the dead kitten cover. Let's face it, a huge application for this stuff is outdoors, so just include the thing. #2. Smaller transmitter, perhaps integrated to the mic itself so that you don't have to futz with the wire... #3. Next to nobody is going to use this straight to a mixer, Fit the receiver with a cable, a clip to hold it to a tripod, and a 3.5mm primary fitting, and toss in a 3.5mm F to 1/4" M adapter for those that will go to a board... Since nobody on the market offers one that fits the bill, and with some adaptation, I have managed to get use out of this, I am happy enough, although I need to learn to be more disciplined about using it.

Is your devices not working? Check here!
I was initially severely disappointed with this product. I would plug it into my camera or my computer and would get nothing but white noise out of the left channel. I could literally yell directly into the mic and get some audio, but it was totally unintelligible. I thought it had to be broken, because the online videos were actually reasonably decent. So, how could I get pure garbage? Well, if you check the manual, you can alter the frequency of the device by using a (VERY) small screwdriver and turning the screw on a small hole on the side. I plugged it into my computer, began turning the screw and BOOM. No more white noise, and the audio came in clear! Now, the audio is super quiet. Even at full volume, I can't get a reasonable level off of this thing. Fortunately, increasing the volume with software does the trick and the results are reasonably clear, but it's an extra step that seems unnecessary. Overall, this product is about 10 times cheaper than anything else you'd find, and so you should expect crappy design and headaches. But, if you're looking for a cheap solution, you may find it here. If you find yourself in the same pickle I was, then just try changing the frequency and see if it doesn't help.

A little fussy, but otherwise good. - Until it broke
Despite reviews, I decided to give these a chance and honestly I am impressed. As other reviewers have noted, the batteries that come with it are complete no-names and shouldn't be trusted. That said, mine were intact and worked fine for the purposes of the test. Also, I am not sure what the target audience of a 1/4" output is, but in most cases an adapter is going to be required. Overall, I am ok with that. I ended up with a 6" corded adapter that I can attach to the tripod. This should reduce stress on my camera's microphone port. Additionally, as other reviewers have said, the quality of these appears to be dependent on application. I tried one on two systems: A standard audio amp and a Nikon D7000. The audio amp I had to turn up the gain on the Pyle sending unit quite a bit, but after that it worked OK. I would not use the "volume" adjustment as such, think of it as gain. In that way, I was able to suss out the max gain before I started getting distortion. After that, it seemed to work pretty well. On the D7000 I actually had quite a few problems at first. First off, the Nikon appears to have a very sensitive microphone input OR is expecting a completely un-amplified signal. In either case, I turned the microphone sensitivity in the camera from AUTO (default setting) to LOW. Then, I did the same trial and error with the Pyle "volume" knob until I got an acceptable signal without distortion. I did not get it perfect but with more time I believe I could have. I only did a small range test and I was pretty impressed. The microphone transmitted from one side of my house (about 50-75ft) to the other without problems. This was including several plaster walls and some stairs. Individual results may vary. The moral of this story is these are not plug and play. You are going to have to do 30+ min of sound checks before you get anything close to good results. That said, I expect this is the case with most wireless microphones... so I am not bothered. The need for an adapter is a little annoying, but the whole system (new batteries + adapter + mic) was still less than $20. UPDATE: After sitting (off) on my desk for a couple of weeks, I fired this up again and it doesn't work. Also, apparently you can't use more than one of these at the same time. Absolute junk.

Does the job!
Okay, I listened to the experts and their opinions about something so cheap they wouldn't even think about it. I don't have the cash or the kind of job that can support their habits. But I do know my background in electronics, especially communications, cancels the majority of their suppposed arguments. Its all about understanding transmitters, receivers, and limitations of the hardware. My setup is using a Tascam DR 40 (old model) with two XLR/TRS inputs. I plugged the receiver directly into the TRS, made adjustments to my Tascam and Pyle lavalier. At first I was getting background noise, no hums, just a sine wave and feedback (too close to everything). After making more adjustments, the sine wave was still there but no problem. I used Audacity (Mac version) and cleaned it up like it wasn't there. Other then that, Pyle Pro PDWM96 works as promised. I'm purchasing a couple more to add to my arsenal.

Pyle-Pro PDWM96 Lavalier Wireless Microphone System
I have always ordered from Amazon I love their prices and the quick time in which they ship. Over the years I have brought camera's, covers, bibles, and bible covers and household products and have been quite pleased. I am a Minister and I do a lot of out reach ministry. I have a battery powered ION Explorer Blue tooth PA System and was looking for a wireless mic system so I wouldn't have to hold a mic in my hand when I preach. I saw this product on Amazon, and as always I read the reviews. Alot of the reviews were good but equal the amount of the reviews spoke of this item as a piece of junk. But I gave Amazon the benefit of the the doubt and ordered this on August 30th,2013 and received it today Sept.11,2013. First of all the instructions do not read right the 3rd instruction says open battery cover of the receiver and insert 2 batteries size AAA. I want you to know the receiver only takes 1 battery and it is a double A battery( it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how the receiver and transmitter is powered up. I tested it several times, the distortion the buzzing sound and when speaking into the mic you cannot understand any word that is being said. And what's so scarey is this I have picked out a set of Pyle- Pro PWMA 1050-800 WATT VHS Wireless Battery - powered PA System which are selling for $203 and some change $408 for the pair I am looking to triple the power on my old system. And just like the wireless mic there are a lot of bad reviews about this PA System as well as a lot of good reports. I live in Bermuda and when I ship from New Jersey ( my American Address) to Bermuda shipping costs me more then the items. Example the mic cost $12.36 Amazons total cost $19.26. To ship it to Bermuda cost me $28.16. I'm stuck with a brand new product that will cost me another $28.16 to ship back so after saying all this I am having 2nd 3rd and 4th thoughts now if I should invest into these speakers which is going to cost me $400 shipping and when they arrive and if the bad reviews are really true. I would be out of pocket big. I am Really I mean really disapointed with this mic. I suggest to you Amazon to keep your good reputation make sure that the factories where these products are made are sending you products that work your name is on the line. kimmie

Excellent Product!
Excellent Product!!! I am a professional sound engineer and worked with many popular brands like SHURE, Senhizer, Behringer etc. Cordless lapel mics and i must say in this kind of price range you are getting an awesome result thanks to Pyle-Pro! I dont know why some customers saying it is worthless, i think they dont know wht purpose they are buying it or else they dont know how to use it. I received a brand new piece and it is working fine and planned to buy to more of such kinda mics!

Scarso
