An excellent cookbook for those who are exploring macro and want a great resource …
My son is quite fit and lean, however, I thought he could use this Macro Cookbook. There aren’t a ton of recipes, but just enough tantalizing ones to make it worthwhile. The introductory pages go over several things from why macro is a good way to go to when to eat and the use of supplements. It then gives a formula to figure out one’s basal metabolic rate (BMR), determining activity rate, picking a macro split, and calculating grams for each macro. It sounds a bit complicated, but in reality, it’s not. What Andy De Santis is attempting to do is to help tailor the plan and use of recipes to a wide variety of men. We’re not all alike and a bit of tweaking is in order. De Santis presents three different cases, briefly outlining their needs. A few more topics and I was ready to launch into the plans and meals. There’s a great 7-day meal plan outlined on a chart. If you need a bit of prompting to start a particular diet, this is perfect. No meal planning as it’s right in front on you. It gives breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, and dinner options as well as suggestions for a workout. Whew! This isn’t a book for slackers by any means. Shopping lists are provided for the different types of meal and exercise plans. There are plenty of interesting recipes, many I think my son will enjoy sampling even if he doesn’t adopt the macro plan. Some of them look absolutely scrumptious and I’m hoping he’ll make a few for me. There are sweet potato nachos, black bean veggie burgers, caprese turkey burgers, etc. In the back of the book are some workout routines, exercise examples, measurement conversions, a list of print references, and a comprehensive index.

Macro Cookbook
We are always looking for new recipes, and while I prefer to use Pinterest to save recipes my husband can’t be bothered. I have resorted to giving him physical cookbooks to choose from and this is right up his alley. We both like the meal plan feature since it’s so easy to get stuck in a rut and eat the same thing all the time. He’s found a few things in this cookbook he can make himself which says a lot, since I’ve had to teach him to cook. The recipes are delicious and easy to follow.

an OK Book
I think this book would be a good resource for someone who is just getting started with macros as it brings an awareness and understanding to tracking and understanding macros that can be a bit fleeting at first. That said, I did not find the recipes to be particular appetizing or interesting, and I think I'd prefer to just search online for meal options that more closely align to my individual tastes. That said, if you're someone who is looking for new meal inspiration and enjoy cooking and trying new things, this would be a great book for you!

This book is perfect for healthy recipes and to stay committed to a healthy diet. The pictures are vibrant and explain the recipe and macros really well. The book also contains a good exercise plan in the end that can be followed along with the recipes to create a perfect health plan. Very good book for fitness journey beginners. Makes staying motived a lot easier.

A few decent recipes, but not many I'll use
This book has a lot of ingredients and meal ideas that frankly turn my stomach just looking at them. Anything that has tofu as a main ingredient causes me to choke down bile. The same can be said for a "black bean veggie burger". If you are worried about fat content (which I'm NOT), then at least make a turkey burger. It's not like this is a meatless diet book; there are recipes that include ground turkey, fish, chicken, and even beef. Rant over, I did find a few ideas that I am looking forward to trying. Some of the breakfast recipes sound great. As far as weight loss and muscle gain, I suppose this is worth a try for some. I've personally found that the Atkins diet works well for me when I want to lose weight and is far less restrictive (and has more ingredients I enjoy) than I saw here. I also wonder if someone who follows this regimen might find themselves hungry all of the time. I've tried low-fat diets and they always leave me wanting more food. Muscle gain will come from the exercises they advocate in this book and a healthy diet will help, but you don't need this book to tell you that.I recommend this book for a few interesting recipes that look to be quick and easy.
